Default Milwaukee's First Crawling Comp

Guys,

We are going to have a 2.2 Comp at the lakefront in Milwaukee on Sunday September 28th. The most likely location is the Filtration Plant site at the north end of Lincoln Memorial Drive.

Slick is going to help out on at least this first one and we will run pretty much the same type of rules and such as the Jefferson Comps have been doing.

I'll have more info soon but I am looking for a show of hands as to who thinks they can make it.

Doh, I forgot, those that want to join me after the comp at the indoor facility may. It is only about 10 minutes from the comp site and the course should be ready to run as I want to start indoor comps in early October.

Guys,

I ran Bradford with some pretty good sized waves coming in on Friday and it was OK. I'd still rather do the Filtration plant as there is more vertical there. So, let's do Noon on Sunday the 28th and I'll get more info together in the next couple of days.

Have a great time, guys! This location looked very promising. If I'm around in time, I'll stop by to get some pics / video.

I would recommend bringing your gear, and be ready to run. Once you see how fun it is you’ll want to hop in. Looks like it going to be a great weekend.

One other thing, At the Comp I would like to talk about the MRC season at Greg’s shop and what the rules are going to be. It’s getting difficult to not tear into it and start modding!.

If my stripped out replacement wheel gets here and time I'll be there. However, being that I have a day left for it to come in, not very likely.

We have a comp in Minneapolis the 28th you could run in.
If you see this yet? check out the MN section for the comp info, we have an extra "club truck" if you can make it? you're welcome to run that.

Default After the Comp

Guys,

Those who want to come the the Mini Speedway shop after the event are welcome.

I have the Crawler Course coming along nicely and we will be running Races 5 and 6 of the Mini-Z HFAY Online Points Series event about 5 or 5:30. I have a couple of test cars that you guys can try out.

Default Milwaukee Crawling Comp Sunday, September 28th, 2008 Recap

Milwaukee Crawling Comp Sunday, September 28th, 2008 Recap

It was a beautiful day at the lakefront in Milwaukee for our first ever 2.2 rock crawling competition. OICU812, Jody, SLICK, GOZER, EDDY4752 and SCHMENZER ran two courses on the mostly construction debris courses at the site just south of the Water Filtration plant.

Schmenzer laid out course #1 that consisted of 6 gates plus the start and finish gates. It was pretty tight with a couple of nice off camber areas, a drop off, a balance section and some good elevation change. Everyone was able to finish in the 8 minute window.

Slick and Schmenzer laid out course #2 that was longer and a bit more open. The gate placement gave you the option of a few lines so you could hang yourself if you wanted to! There were 7 gates plus the start and finish gates on this course. Time was not an issue on this course either but most drivers took a bit longer on #2 than on #1.

In the end here's how it panned out:

OICU812 2
SLICK 16
GOZER 35
SCHMENZER 54
EDDY4753 61
Jody 79

We shared the area today with a crew who were filming for an upcoming movie. It looked like a comedy if the cucumbers were any indication!

After the comp we all headed over to the Mini Speedway Shop to look over the indoor course and to run Mini-Zs on the RCP track. Dave and Michael joined us and in the end, Dave, Greg, Derrick and Michael ran the two 8-minute Mini-Z races for the HFAY Online Points Series. Lots of fun packed into one day!

Sorry, I spaced on pix. Did anyone take photos?
