Default Losi MRC Indoor Crawling League - Rule Decision

Well, we hashed this out again today and it really comes down to one of two ways. Anything in between, is as one thread commenter put it:

"you either can go box stock, no exceptions, or full mod, anything goes within measurement limits. If you go somewhere in between it gets really hairy and people start asking "well what about this?" and "you have this, why not this?".

First, I think out of the box this rig is very capable and a well driven stock MRC can be competitive. Modding can be a double edge sword. Gain in one area and lose in another. We saw it today, didn't we? Part of the fun of crawling is trying new ideas so I can't see how a Box Stock class will really work in practice even though it seems like a good idea at first.

Second, since it seems that no one REALLY wants to leave their rig alone, even if they are only small changes, so, here is what we will do:

Losi MRC League Rules for Mini Speedway are:

You must start with a Losi MRC!
  • 8.5" Max Wheelbase
  • 8" Max Width
  • 1.9" Wheels
  • NO Digs
  • 2 Wheel Steer only
We will use 12-inch minimum gate spacing on the course.

That said, I am not planning major mods and I think the only additional costs I am considering over and above the stock truck are a 2S LiPo (which I actually already have) and Blue tires when they come out. Everything else will be relocating stock parts. Probably! Maybe...

If we have enough participation I may consider scoring Box Stock rigs in their own class as well as in the overall scheme of things. You would not run separately simply scored as a subset of the overall.

Feel free to bash me about the head and body for finally coming up with a decision but get your MRC and let's crawl!

Dudes and Dudettes,

I made a slight change to the max wheelbase because a little bird whispered in my ear. Changed to 8.5" from 9". Otherwise I think we are good.

Oh, yeah, under battery go with this and you'll likely be in with the "official" class rules as well.

just a bit of advice/insite... you might not want to make it just a Losi Mini class... There just might be another manufacture coming out with a mini with very very similar specs within a month or so .

TLTs can be built within the WB and TW specs too.

Sounds interesting and for Season 2 in January I'll have to look at the options at that time. As long as rigs fit the rules I guess we'd have to allow them.
