I only used solid steel and brazed with general filler rod. I think silver solder works good.

I was thinking of trying something different like silver solder and some high strength aluminum rod, I want to keep the weight down and increase the wheelbase

I use a MAPP gas torch I got at Home Depot and Safety-Silv 45 available at any place that sells refrigeration/ac supplies. Brake line (uncoated), brass and mild steel, works good for all those.

Look for the Safety-Silv or similar kit that comes with the paste flux, I think it's a special type for silver solder.

I stopped by the track today to pick up a few things, and got to talking with some crawler dudes. They were talking about organizing a G6 event of some kind this summer....hope it happens .

While I was there, one of my racer buddies bought a used but not even scratched or dirty Honcho. Two like new bodies (stock body and a Commanche), 2 sets of tires and shocks, radio and extra parts....$250! Lucky pup!

Exo Terra Buggy chassis and body on a 2.2 comp style rig? Even though it's discontinued there's lots of parts available. I think it would look pretty cool, not sure if it's do-able though. It'd be different, thats for sure .
