Well what can I say, Dont ever go here!!! I went inside to check out some models, After looking for awhile I made my way to the front & asked the owner about model bodys & rock crawling. The guy went in to a frenzy when I started talking about our club. He said they had a comp last month that had 600 entries??? I told him I never ever heard of it. He was trying to be-little me by saying we didn't support local hobby shops and I didn't know what I was talking about. I stayed there about 15 minutes going back & forth w/the guy... He said I was communist for buying off the internet. He showed me all sort of projects he has done (proving he is so knowledgable) looked like a assorted pile of junk. He gave me a lesson on Taxes, Local economy & how pitifull his store is, All this by just going in a Hobby Store. Funny thing about his store is he has trash cans collecting water from the roof spead out across the store, Lights were out and stuff had water marks on it. Sh!t-hole. Needless to say I finnally walked out & he followed me to my car. Then I started to be like Get the Fu%k away from me! He wanted to continue argueing. It was one of the most Bizarre hobby stops I ever had. I told him to check rccrawler.com for a review from myself, Of course that just made him more upset. I can only hope that the econmy eats this guy up soon. I gave him one of our club cards So... May-bee expect a call from some A$$-hole in the future. |

Happy Hobby? Sure doesn't sound happy . I've run into a few business owners who weren't exactly what you'd call stable. I think they started their own business 'cuz no-one else would hire them.

It was a surreal experience, I am still thinking about it & how he Freaked me out. His store reminded me of a "Hoarders" show. |

Roadtrip anyone? On a side note everyone bitches about Tower Hobbies, but you can get some great deals on stuff there, esp if your a super saver slub member! Everytime I see them look up parts @ HTO, it is on Tower's site. Their selection of crawler specific type stuff is fairly limited though. |

As far as buying things online, maybe if the local hobbyshops asked around and found out what people are buying online most, they might have a good idea of what they should be carrying? Just another crazy idea, I have lots of them .

Kinda sounds like the owner has supply and demand alittle wrong. He doesn't supply what you need and demands you buy from him anyways.

I have a couple of days off early this week...maybe I should head up and visit the guy. I have been in the shop...a few years ago. I heard from a friend that he had nothing new, but I might enjoy finding something older, vintage, or previously thought lost. I remember the narrow aisles, and the dim lighting. And some of the older stuff that I might have been remotely interested in was pretty highly priced. In fact at that time, I was still promoting Midwest Nitrcross and asked if he would mind me posting a flyer...he wasn't too excited about lending a spot on the bulletin board. Oh well, thankfully there are a lot of other friendly hobby shops willing to take the time to help you and or at least chat with you. |
