Default 1.9 ruling call

I have a question about this part of the USRCRC rule...

2.4.2 - Vehicle track width is limited to a maximum of 8 inches. This is determined by measuring bottom of the outer most edge of the front and rear tires while the vehicle is sitting on level ground.
So, this could be taken 2 ways in my mind. Are we talking about line "A" or line "B"?.....



Line "A" is the edge of the contact patch between the tire and the ground. Line "B" is the outer edge of the tire.



Need a calling on this flag

I thought the track width was actually measured from the center of each contact patch? (or is that just for the 1:1? For setting toe in/out)

OK, Then to further complicate it, What if part of the wheel is wider than the tire buldge? For example if the wheel nut protrudes past the tire buldge.

It says tires.

ok build a box that is 8" wide and see if your truck fits inside.

That would work but you would have to set the truck on a flat surface first, then slide tha box over the rig.

It would not work if this is true. As the wheel nut and or part of the wheel could be wider than the 8" track width

Yep I guess you are correct there. You're gonna have to make a tech stick I guess.

sorry to bring this thread up again.
so technically axial axles with negative offset wheels would be legal as long as the tire bulge doesn't exceed the 8" mark, correct?

even though the axle nut would be past the 8" mark
(I know this isn't the best setup for crawling but it means being able to run in 2 classes rather than 1)

Correct. If you can live with the wheel nut sticking out, the measurement is based on the tires only.

what about rule
3.7 - You cannot run the same vehicle in more than one class.

so with his question the way I read it he is wanting to run 1 truck 2 class's and that is not allowed..

True rules do state that you should not run the same truck. On the other side of the table it is up with the club to decide what format they run. I for one would not turn a person away if they could only afford one crawler.

Not everybody plans on competing for a Nats invite. If they are, they have to follow the rules.

I have a scaler with axial trans and axles that I can make a new chassis and links for easily. so it won't be the same truck in both classes.
Just trying to use the parts I have to compete in another class.

The hardest part is going to be modifying the 1.9 wheels to fit these rules, and of course, getting through the course with the axle nuts sticking out so far :-(
