I will Take 20 points and pass

I understand the 20 point per gate rule is a option.
but can a driver say"I will take 20 on this GATE and pass"?

Usually all they have to do is touch it to max there points out.

It really depends on where your at too.

Fishmaxx 07-19-2009 04:10 PM

Touch it twice...20 points

Rock crawlings version of the tap-out"

JeremyH 07-20-2009 08:24 AM

Yep, at our comps we dont allow that....you must aquire the points. We do this because of our time limit....

hbj069 07-20-2009 09:38 AM

I have seen this at a few comps, I think fish said it best by it being a tap out!! I think it takes away from the carisma of crawling and should be considered an intentional touch for a 30 point penalty. JMO

I thought once you hit a gate one time it was 10 points and dead? Thats how we run.

megacabcummins 07-20-2009 09:49 AM

I like that idea...

true that is how its done but there are times when rigs don't make it to the gate and due to rollovers, time, reverses a few people elect to toss the rig up to the gate take the penalty and go forward. We have some killer course builders around bama and its real hard for some newbies and not so pro guys/gals to compete on the same level with Austin Dunn, Rockcrawler joe Bruiser and some of the other Big Guns. Hopefully the new program being instituted in Tenn this weekend at kamikazis crawl will work.

What are they changing?

after gate five (5) the driver has an option to run pro course or intermediate course for the last 5 gates. Only pro course will be for points.

Each gate has 2 gate markers. I think He's talking about the gate a whole.

Someone once said "It's rock crawling not crawler carrying"
We do not allow someone to do this at our comps.

[QUOTE=Kamikaze;1881486]The good folks at Hobby Lobby Int. have agreed to host us Saturday the 25 on there new rock course. Big thanks to them for that. Course building starts at 8:00AM, drivers meeting at 8:45 sharp, comp starts at 9:00. We are running 1.9, 2.2 and Super. Hope to see you all there, and all are welcome.

Location:
5614 Franklin Pike Circle
Brentwood, TN 37027

Any questions call 931-698-5184

WE ARE GOING TO TRY SOMETHING NEW, ALL COURSES WILL HAVE 10 GATES, AT GATE 5 THE COURSE WILL SPLIT INTO AMATEUR AND PRO CLASS. IF YOU HAVE OR RECEIVE ANY COMPENSATION FROM ANY COMPANY YOU MUST RUN PRO. IF NOT YOU MAY RUN AMATEUR (note: anyone is allowed to run pro but you must run the whole day at one or the other). The purpose of this is to get everyone involed and through the courses. I know it sucks to show up and point out on every course. Only pro class scores go towards the club point series. (This is not to exclude amateurs but to allow those who want to make the jump from amateurs to pro eligible for the points series if they choose to move up mid season)

This one.

Yeah I have heard that line before, and it sounds all big and bad. Thats the way it should be at national level events, but locally where the skill level of drivers is pretty extreme. Two 2 things happen...... drivers to sit in one spot until time expires, or course are made easier so divers can finish them.

How does that make you better?

SERCRC, and the state clubs that spun off use the "carry" because it allows drivers to drive not just sit in one spot. I am not saying thats why we have 4x National champions, but it defintly didn't hurt us"thumbsup"

Intentional?

When I "accidentally" drive over my foot, or my truck "mysteriously" needs a repair would those be 30 or 10 point penalty?

If you don't like the 20 max out rule don't run it, but don't make mind reading a requirement of judging:?

I think he means when you purposefully touch both gates to advance...

Fishmaxx 07-20-2009 12:20 PM

I know what he means.

My point is there is no way to know the drivers intention if he wants to avoid the proposed 30 point intentional touch penelty:shock:

megacabcummins 07-20-2009 12:30 PM

Ah ok I see what you mean... that's a tough call then. I like the idea of making the drivers drive the course, set up the rigs correctly, and not carry. But at the same time I can see that end up being a nightmare for the judges...

jeepcj578 07-20-2009 12:35 PM

oops:shock: i stepped on that gate, oh and that one oh well thats 20:mrgreen:

exactly "thumbsup"

Harvo 07-20-2009 01:52 PM

I think we aren't using the 20pt. bypass this next season at ETRC comps. The purpose is to align more with what bigger events nation wide are doing ??

It's OK with me either way."thumbsup"
