| Legal Body Panels Help Guide and Disscussion o 2.1.4.1 - Bodiless vehicles must have solid hood panel, solid roof panel and a minimum of 2 solid side-panels. o 2.1.4.1.1 - Hood, roof and side panels must be separate pieces of solid material installed onto the bodiless vehicle frame. o 2.1.4.1.2 - All body panels are to be separate pieces from the complete structural frame. o 2.1.4.1.3 - Body panels must be solidly installed in a manner that is representative of a 1:1 vehicle. o 2.1.4.1.4 - All panels (roof, hood, and sides) must have at least 2x measurements greater than 1", and a minimum of 3.5 square inches of exposed solid surface area. o 2.1.4.1.5 - Body panels must be fitted to the vehicle, and not be exaggerated in size or shape in order to distort vehicles legal measurements. | The minimum body panel size is 3.5 square inches of area which happens to be the same size as a standard business card. I made this simple Tech Tool in about 5 mins (it shows) out of lexan. All the area inside the various colored lines are 3.5 square inches AND have at least 2x measurements greater than 1" For those with more elaborate shapes a program that figures it out http://www.3ds.com/products/draftsig...tor=SEC-6-GOO- Just remember the person doing tech at the next comp may not have the access to the program more examples of LEGAL shapes, and one that is NOT Last edited by Fishmaxx; 01-12-2011 at 09:12 AM. |

| During some testing of the procedure I found I could just lay the 1/2 business card on the table in proximity to the truck being teched, and 90% I could tell just by looking without even touching the card. |

I did the same in my LCC with a BJ4 top cab but wider (3.5") compared to my XR10 with BJ4 chassis, will it be illegal too? | |

Here are the panels I made for my LCC with BJ4 top cab. Its a JConcept Gate Crusher body donating the panels. and the back view of the hood-windshield-roof. Clear view of the top panel Would much appreciate your comment if this legal or illegal. I am using the same idea in my XR10 and I hope I get a positive feedback as I use these trucks in comps. |

Thats what I thought. But if I cut the panel in the lower portion of the windshield and install the same way, it will be two pieces. Will it be ok then?

I'm making an aluminum bodiless chassis, but I made the side plates full (not cutout). According to the rules, I have to cut out the side, and then panel them back over, correct? (I also made a top and hood as part of the structure, changing them out anyways due to weight.) |

I have a side panel question. Can my side panels go around my transmission on one side. They would be well over legal size but the tranny will stick out about 1/4 past the panel? The motor will be covered but the 2 screws for the motor mount would not |

| So, near the tranny it would be shaped like a U, but everywhere else would be enclosed? The enclosed area meets the dimension guidelines (meaning, if you cut off the U portion, then the panel would still pass)? If so, then I'd say there is nothing wrong with that....

I'M about to go to AWCC this weekend and made some new panels. I made the hood panel 2 1/8 in. by 2 1/4 in. is that legal or illegal? (it says something about a minimum of 3.5 square inches?) I don't want to have problems at AWCC. Thanks, |
