Is it legal for the beadlock bolts to pass through the tire? Must they be below the bead? The rules aren't clear (to me) about this.

Also are we allowed to glue the tire to the wheel at a larger od than of that the bead?

I think the bolts through the bead should be legal as long at they don't break the max outside OD ring requirement.

There isn't any limitation on peircing the bead. As long as the bead can sit at 2.2"ID.


The limits for external bead rings is 2.55" OD. From bead to bead internally there is not a restriction, but if there is only an internal bead mount then it must meet the 2.2" or smaller restriction at the bead.


This is how I would look at a plate design with "floating" bead beds that didn't have a lip in the radial direction. The side plates are the only point for bead attachment, so it has to hit the defined values by ID instead of traditional wheels where it is OD.

John I think we are looking at things the same way. If the rules stay the same, my wheels will be legal.
