I did try the chain break....it worked well for the most part but it was using it that the one side of one drive shaft broke off.

Worked fine for 1 axle.

Ah ha so would you say it's not a good tool to use for removing the pins? and the one that you used did it look like the one I found? I want to get something to remove the pins with that is easy to use for one person and doesn't require a bunch of other tools to make it work if possable... I have my phone call in to Global, I had to leave a message so I'm waiting for someone to call me back to talk about the axles.

No I used a chain break that was on my multi tool for my downhill mountain bike. This pin for the chain was too large so I had to hold a set screw in line with the axle and break pins...tweezers and a couple tries to get everything lined up with only 2 hands.

My chain break was more like this one (only with hex holes cut into the handle body to use as wrenches and some other trick stuff.

Glad i'm not the only one having this problem. Broke my front shaft about 15 minutes after i got it going. Has anyone gotten a new one yet? Hope they are stronger. Going to email GH right now.

Yeah I saw this post, I was looking for somthing that didn't involve a vice and a bunch of tools. The Chain Breake thing looks be a tad cumbersome as well according to Dynamic^Cipher. I'm looking at modding a small C clamp that will hold the Axle and press the pin out without damaging the shaft end. As soon as I find somthing that looks to be a good candidate I wil post a pic of the clamp with mod.

I talked with GH on Friday and they told me the first shipment of Axles had already went out to retailers. But he also told me that all I had to do was to send them a pic of the broken one with a copy of the recipt and they would mail out a new one. Problem that I have with this is I bought mine on ebay and I don't think he is an authorized dealer :-( Oh well... I ordered two axles on 10-30 and haven't seen anything yet.

I'm still waiting on my axles as well. I'm using 2 day fedex to ship them so I should get them pretty quick after their in.

Also still waiting on my pimp cane that I ordered on Oct 13. The race is still on.

I recived my Axels from Hobby People today. I made a pin press from a $1.29 C clamp and a spair pinion gear.

Here you can see where I ground off the base plate from the plunge and roughly an 1/8" of thred. I then drilled a hole 1/64th larger then the pin in the head of the clamp. The pinion gear is used as a sleeve to keep the pin and the plunge alligned wile pressing the pin into the axle. The new axle is on the right. The whole process is simple and the tool fits in your box so if you break in the field you can do the repair with out the need of tools that are to bulky and cumbersome to bring.

OH the woes that are my life.

Got my drive shafts in the mail today...hooray. So I'm pressing a pin in AND.....the stupid pin cracks in 2.

I'm solving this one by buying some local hpi heavy duty dogbones and pressing the pin out of them, shortening it, and using it. What a hassle this XTM has been.

If had my pimp cane I would have lost my mind by now. As I'm still waiting for it its not the end of the world.

I feel your pain... I have considered selling off the X and just getting a shafty. I'm going to give it one more go and if I have anyother problems it will be seeing ebay.

I have an update on the C clamp idea. The 1" is not going to be stout enough to press out the pin that going to be difficult. It mushroomed out the part I ground on at the end of the plunge and bent the clamp out of shape. I went back to the hardwhare store and went to a 2 1/2" and finnished the job of pressing in the pin. I still need to do the mod to the new clamp so I can press out the pin but I'm hoping I wont need to.

use a heat gun. NOOO not glow'n !!!! soft'nz the loc-tite too. this is used in 1:1 offroad/garages more than you would think. snap-on makes punch's just for these kinda pins in all sizes. work'd slick for me.
