so after waitin what seems to be forever..finally got my XTM crawler... had plans for this one for a long time..decided not to turn it into a stick right away, instead wanted to try a 50/50 droop sprung using hpi super savage shocks and make my own tvp chassis to play with geometry a bit..well as usual i got off subject...got it up n runnin couple days ago playin round with the 4ws last night driving round my basement and noticed rear axle wasnt pushing ...short story..pretty sure i sheared the axle drive pin..thinking bout replacing it with a tool steel pin..will update when i have time to take it appart and see exactly what the probem is..just a bit disappointed got to admit..pretty sure i am gonna get in a bind somewhere in a comp and really dont like trying to finish a course in 2wd ![]() |

I suspect you actually broke the end off the drive shaft (where the pin is held). A lot of us have done that.

and the new weak link is.......... cluster gear! the smaller gear is pressed in to the larger one with apparently not enough interference between the two i feel sorry for anybody that tries a brushless on this axle!!! for now how do i fix this before sunday..the start of our local indoor season my first thought is to tig weld but cant do that till monday at the earliest, but even that seems to be a real pain..idlers are on shafts with spacer sleeves..to much weld and it will bind |

on a smooth steel surface..to keep flat staked the sides of the larger flat gear using a sharp center punch.. 8 equally spaced pricks..about 1/8" from the i.d. on each side..alternating sides to prevent warping this effectively reduced the inner diameter enough that i could re-pres the gears together ..hammering them is not an option..pressed!! smooth jaw vise will work let me know if any issues ![]() |
