XTM X-crawler setup questions My wife got me the X-crawler for X-Mas and I'm finally getting around to building it. I got 2 quark 33 esc's a couple of 11.1v 2200 mAh lipos a Castle Creations BEC, couple 200 oz/in servos which im sure ill be upgrading... 2 Holmes hobbie torque master sport 1000kv brushless outrunners, and a AR6100 reciever. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what pinion gear to use and if its 48p ?? do I use an 8 tooth or like 12 ?? and any other setup tips would be helpful. i plan on setting up left stick for front axle fwd/rev and steer and right stick for rear drive and steer, and using some mixing or maybe flaperon to lock the drives so i dont have to freewheel all the time not sure yet. so any input on that would help to.. thanks! OH ps my radio is a DX7 http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...7/DSCN1854.jpg |

If you are taking about the hub size, they are 14mm. |

Are you sure you didn't just buy it for yourself....................:-P:-P:-P:-P:-P:-P |
Just my $.02.... I don't know the pinion size, and would be interested in that myself. I'm running dual sidewinders pushing 65turn motors with a 9.6v pack, and have no wheel speed either. For servos I had to go to the Hobbico 333.oz. The 200.oz servos I had couldn't get the job done. The Hobbicos still struggle on occasion, but they seem to work. The biggest issues I have had with the truck are the tires, and the lower shock clamps. I found that the tires just don't grip and want to slide sideways on the slightest incline. The lower shock clamps would catch on everything I tried to climb over. I have some Imex rubicons on the way to help with the tire issue. I had really good luck with the smaller size version on my Axial. I am hoping these will work as well as those did. For the shock issue, I bought some HPI Savage shocks that are almost twice the length of the stock shocks. This put the lower clamps down within the diameter of the tires and now the tires will always hit before the clamps do. So far they seem to have done the trick. The articulation hasn't really changed as it seemed the original shocks allowed the chasis to articulate to the limits of the links. Other than those two issues, I have been happy with the rig so far. A little more wheel speed would be nice, but it still performs well as is. |
Are you using one battery to power both ESC's? |
