Gear welding service?

Does anyone provide a service for welding the pressed gears? My gears "finally" failed after two stair climb sessions and I don't have the means or knowledge to weld the gears for the repair. Can anybody provide this service? How much for each gear repair? I'm sure I'm not the only one looking for this type of service. Thanks.

It's realy not that hard to braze the gears together. They sell kits at most hardware stores that come with everything you need. Just like soldering really.

I used Harris Safe-t-silv 56. It is a kit I got at the local welding store for $28. It has 1 oz. of 1/16" dia. silver solder and a small bottle of flux.

I cleaned the gears with brake cleaner (acetone or denatured alcohol would probably work) and soldered them from the small gear side.

I can post a pic if you need one.

I put the axles back together without getting any pictures. I will post some pictures of the next set.

nice tips guys. i might braze my next set. my welded ones are still holding strong so it might be a while.

the next weak link that ive found is the pin in the axle that go's in the axle gear and through the axle so im going to try to find some hardened ones. also last week i broke a dog bone and havnt had time to order it.

So I just swapped out the broken gear with new replacement ones. Upon inspection, there is definitely a difference between the two gears. The old gear was pressed with the smaller into a perfectly round hole on the larger gear. On the new replacement gear, the smaller is the same, but the hole looks as if it has some edges instead of being perfectly round. Hopefully this will make it last longer. I was going to take some pictures, but got too lazy. I'll try to get some pics should my front axle gears need replacing.
