My X-Factor Build

Hi, this is my first time dealing with an X-Factor. There isn't much right now, but every projects got to start somwhere. So far all I have is the axles, and thats actually it. It's probably going to get Moab XLs and a brushless setup when i get the money. it will also have a tube chassis that I'll get off of eBay. All I've done so far is put on the brackets shown on the one axle for the lower links and the shocks. I need to get spools for the axles and order my electronics, shocks, chassis and alot of other things. Any suggestions will be appericiated. But go easy on me because I'm only 11 years old. On to the pics!8)

Hey Coles, are you going up to Sam Lewis this Sunday for the comp? Yeah for the brushless setup I'm gonna' have to wait to get the money for it. I think They mad lockers for the X-Factors.

This is the chassis I want to get.

I didn't see X-factor on there!? And no I not gonna make it this weekend, but good luck and I'll see you guys sometime this summer.

Toph 03-17-2007 03:15 PM

But there are Twin Force lockers on there. Aren't they practicly the same thing? And I'm not going up this Sunday ether because my one rig that I would have taken isn't working very well. I just finished making my front drive shaft. I'll post pics soon.

Well I haven't gotten time to work on this latley and I wasen't able to get the chassis because it went for to much. I just got a whole lot of brazing stuff and I will probably make my own tube chassis. I will start working more once I get more time and finish my other build.

I now have my front servo, witch is an HS-805bb servo. I also made a Revo driveshaft fit onto the other axle. But I think that I'm just going to get these, http://rc4wdstore.com/product_info.p...roducts_id=533. ALL COMENTS ARE VERY APERCEATED!!!!!!!

IMO, your cvd setup will ber shot by the torque of your motor...
Visit the XF forum at globalhobby, see my sig and my setup: Try it, I have a SH28 and my tranny is low geared! U can also solder some tube to lengthen them or even buy the RC4Wd punishers!

Toph 04-02-2007 04:33 AM

I'm not changing the axleshafts. I'm changing the driveshafts. I think that I might FINALLY be able to get some work done to it today.

Well I figured out what tranney that I'm going to run. I'm going to get a Rc4wd R2 tranny for it. I will be running a lathe motor instead of brusshless for now. All comments are welcome.

Toph 04-05-2007 11:04 AM

Well I got my tranny on the way! It is an R2 tranny from RC4WD. I will run a 75T lathe for my motor. Has anyone ever run an R2 in an X-Factor?

Well I opened up the rear axle and there is a crack in the case.:x So I think that I am going to just super glue it together. I think that I am just going to jb weld the diffs to lock them. Any and all comments are welcome.

keep it up

I wish I could help you, but I have no experience with x-factor. Do you have any updates? Are those aluminum knuckles the same as tlt knuckles? Your fortunate to be 11 and this talented, good luck, when I was 11 all I had was bmx racing and home made half pipes, and the Tamiya Hornet ...lol . Who makes the x- factor? :D

Toph 04-09-2007 06:38 PM

I think that the X-Factor is made by Kysho. I wouldn't know if the X-Factor knuckles are the same as the Tlts because the only crawlers I have right now are 2 Maxx's and this witch is still in the process. There is no progress as of yet, but I do know that i am going to brase 1/4 inch brakline to make the chassis and it is going to have about a 20 inch wheel base. Being 11 and having a Dremel, two drills, a Snap On toolbox that is full can take its tool, I have already cut my finger with aluminum, a drill, and just recintley cut the tip of my thumb of with a razor. And my mom was PISSED!!!

The X-factor is an XTM racing product.I doubt the knuckles are the same.
I am currentlly starting a build upon my old X too only I am starting with more of the truck then you are and am using the stock tranny. I do not know how mine will turn out. I would like to see yours come along too.
As for locking the diff silly putty works pretty good. the JB weld tends to turn into powder. I was considering welding 2 of the spider gears together too.

HauntFreaks.com 04-09-2007 10:05 PM

to lock a XF diff all you have to do is turn one of the 4 spyder gears sideways.... thats it no jb weld, hot glue or silly putty needed....

Toph 04-10-2007 02:33 PM

Well now that I am FINALLY finished with my third Maxx build I can start to work on this more and get it finished. I am going to get the chassis powder coated, but I don't know what color to do. I am also going to make some thinner aluminum panels so that they can get dented (my dad says that in a week that it will look like a raison:twisted:) and I will get the panels anodized. I am open to seggustions on color.

ThanX,
Krystopher

CrazyBRONCOguy 04-11-2007 06:13 AM

Pink and orange. I have no idea what to tell you to use on the colors.

I just got an emaxx tranny for my X build, hopefully that'll work. I will be looking at your build come along too. Those r2 trannies are nice.

Toph 04-11-2007 04:05 PM

I got the R2 because they are all metal and aluminum, they are also very strong and easier to mount. I still haven't gotten an update yet. When I get the R2 in then I can start to work on brazing, but I am only 11 and my father will be doing almost all the brazing until I get the hang of it then I can work on it more often. Thanks for all the positive coments guys!
