The 1:1 rock racing scene is growing and gaining notice, and we wanted to give you a glimpse at one of our own site members who is involved in the sport. Jason and Doyle are in mid-season competition and currently in 10th place in the Western Divisional Series in the Xtreme Rock Racing Association (XRRA).

RCC:  How did you first get started in fourwheeling?

Jason:  I'd have to say it started with my dad. I remember going camping with him, bouncing down trails to find a camp spot. Wheeling down the trials was
always alot of fun for me, I think that's what got me hooked. Then he taught

me how to drive the Jeep. I got myself into alot of trouble with that XJ.

RCC:  Are XRRA events your first shot at this type of competition?

Jason:  Yes, this is the first form of 4-wheeling competition I've been involved in.

5

RCC:  Why did you choose the rock racing competition over rock crawling
competition?

Jason:  The racing appealed to me because it's a run-what-ya-brung type of format. You'll see everything from hacked up tubed out Jeeps to one seat moonbuggies.

6
7

RCC:  Do you also wheel trails as well?

Jason:  Yes, as often as I can. I still enjoy spending the day wheeling with friends
and enjoying the outdoors.

9

RCC:  Can you shed some light on how you chose the name Team Terminal
Velocity?

Jason:  Just a play on the physics definition. Less terminal more velocity!

RCC:  Who are the current sponsors for your team?

Jason:  Our current sponsors are: Prologger.com, RCCrawler.com, Xtreme Engineering, and Dave's Automotive of Fort Collins.

RCC:  Are you looking for additional sponsors for the future?

Jason:  Yes. With the growing popularity of Rock Racing it's a perfect place for companies to advertise. We have great relationships with our current sponsors and look forward to creating new relationships with others.

RCC:  What are your future plans for the team?

Jason:  Our main focus will be continuing to have fun racing in the XRRA, but may include a few crawling comps next season.

RCC:  We know you’re into RC crawling as well and placed 4th in the Supers
class at the USRCCA Nationals in Moab last year. How do you combine the two interests of 1:1 wheeling & racing to that of scale crawling?

Jason:  They are very similar, both require lots of practice to improve driving
skill. I try to combine both whenever possible. I try to take my crawler with me when we go 4-wheeling.

RCC:  Thanks for sharing your story and good luck in competition.
