The Ambush CGR body is comprised of two pieces. The first piece, is the lexan body itself. The second piece is the CGR Roll Cage. Both are combined to bring you the ultimate scaler lexan package. To take your crawler to the extreme scale level, then check out our complete line of scale accessories sold separately (click here for details)

The Ambush CGR is made from .060 lexan to withstand all of those rollovers when crawling. Molded in spare tire recess, diamond plated storage bins located behind the driver and passenger seats, instrument gauge cluster, transfer case and transmission shifters, seats, dash detail, and steering wheel are all captured in this highly detail body. A decal sheet with grill, headlight, taillight and dash detail is all included as well.

The CGR Roll Cage has 8 mounting points to CGR bodies. Six of the location use a captured styling mounting system on the backside of the body to give the look of a full-scale crawler. A hinged, snap-on wind deflector sits flush against the hood of the CGR bodies while a hinged spare tire rack, tire mount included, allows for you to carry an additional 2.2” or 1.9” tire of your choice.

I'm a big fan of the flat paint look on crawlers. So for this paint job I decided to go with a flat tan body with flat black and silver interior. The paint used is Krylon Camouflage Ultra-Flat.

I started off by masking off the two diamond plate boxes behind the seats, the center shift console and the VDO gages on the dash as well as the entire body area that will be painted flat tan later.

After 2 coats of flat black.

I let the flat black dry for about an hour and then masked off the interior so I can paint the body panels flat tan.

The flat tan came out a little darker then I originally wanted, but in the end I really like how this paint job turned out.

Mounting the CGR cage was easy and with 6 mounting points from the cage, it is very secure.

Mounting the Ambush CGR body on a stock Axial SCX10 required a little trimming of the fender wells. After the trimming, the body is mounted.

Next was mounting the Proline Western bumpers, I made the bumper mounts out of flat aluminum stock, the front is about twice as thick as the rear to space the bumpers out from the body, nothing fancy on the mounts. After I finished with the bumper mounts, I mounted the winch. it will be wired directly to the winch port on the Novak Goat ESC.

And finally here is the roof rack mounted and Proline scale accessories added. I used double sided sticky tape to secure the jerry can, cooler and tool box.
