Albany NY area?

I think that he meant Competition Hobby in Latham, NY. Calandra Racing Concepts is in Rome, or near by Rome, NY. Correct?

If you can get up there, Racing City Hobbies is in Glens Falls, and definitely has a larger selection of many things that you might be interested in. Again, he has no crawler specific knowledge.
Yeah, CRC is in Rome. 20 mins away from me. :-D That place is awesome.

Anyone know of any good spots for a get to gether?

Most of the places I've seen need a capable 1:1 rig to get into.

I'm keeping my eyes open in the Saratoga area. I've seen a couple rock walls that look interesting, but they are overgrown in brush.

I just got my e-maxx from Tower this week. Unfortunatley, it looks like one of the batteries I purchased is defective. It wouldn't take a charge. Returning that today.

There is that one spot I was mentioning in Skidmore College's north woods. Not more than a 3-4 minute walk from the parking lot. I also have a lot of room in the yard to make a bashing area.

I'm going to have some rocks dumped in the back of my place this spring. I have a couple projects, but I'm ordering extra.

"thumbsup"

science and hobbies in watervilet has an exelent selection of new and used things and the staff is knowledgable too compitition hobbys sucks the only thing they have going for them is the track and hobbytown is a rip off i drive from gloversvillr to watervilet if i need something there on route 32 right across from price chopper

Thanks Chev, I don't get down that way much but knowing of a half way decent hobby store to keep in mind is always good. I used to race electric 10th off road trucks at Competition in Latham, but they were so lazy about everything and too many kids just being allowed to mess around on the track. I love to see kids playing and would help a few here and there, but when the officials aren't enforcing the rules (like no reverse on track!) it makes all the effort to dial in a race vehicle moot because of the squirrels on the track. They have no itnerest in crawling near as I can tell...

Hey Jamboree or, others for that matter, if you like, you can check some pics of my builds on pohoto bucket. I figured I would put some photos up since I punctured my left index finger yesterday at work (hit a nerve, good pain, good:twisted:), and it is pretty hard to get any real work done. Typing isn't too bad with it....

Bruiser http://s263.photobucket.com/albums/ii148/lewslugnut/Bruiser/
F350 http://s263.photobucket.com/albums/ii148/lewslugnut/F 350/
Mountaineer http://s263.photobucket.com/albums/ii148/lewslugnut/Mountaineer/

Bruiser, I am planning on cutting the bed short just behind the wheel well, should I bob it slightly too? It will be running 2.2 mostly.

F350, I am not sure which tires to permanently glue, the SDI swampers or the mud slingers. It will also run 1.9 rock stompers and/or crushers once in a while. Not sure which rims to mount either, original 350 or hummer?

Montaineer, I am planning on a 1.9 leafer, original axles, not sure on tranny yet, rims are the orginal Hilux/Blazer insert/beadlock. I have drilled them out to fit on the Bruiser/Mountianer hubs. mounting tires is a real pain since they are slightly smaller than 1.9 but they do fit. I will mostly be running the stompers and /or the crushers on this.

Thanks for any comments.

Nice trucks lew.

I order just about everything online. The guy at competition is a douchebag and Hobbytown is more $$ than an online order with shipping included. Plus, I hate driving down Central Ave. :D

Thanks Jamboree. We'll keep tabs and catch up eventually at Skidmore or somthing. One of these days I will start a build thread for the vehicles, it's just so slow for me, it would be a lame thread......

yeah hobbytown is way overpriced and the guy in compitition was trying to tell me that what i wanted to do was not possible and if i did manage to get it to work it would break real fast and then recomended me to use dogbones for my crawlers drive shafts cuz " thats what all SERIOUS competition crawlers are using " **** him and his store loser haha so your in the saratoga area huh we all might have to get togather to do some crawlin i really dont know of too many places yet

There is a spot in Mayfield. 1:1 wheelin there and there is a long rock sluice that would be fun.

right.. i think i know where your talking about out by pour jims right jez i never thought about that i use to wheel all the time out there when i had my 4x4 truck thanks

That's the place. You'll need a truck to get in there a ways to the rock sluices, but a high clearance 2wd should get you in far enough.

It can be like the wild west back there some days. Watch out.

Last time I was back there 1:1 wheeling we ran into a 4-Runner full of drunk/high kids blasting through the trees WFO, beer cooler flying around, pill bottles flying out, etc. I think they saved their own lives by getting a bad flat and running on the rim slowly all the way back out.

sorry to revive this thread lol but i'll be in the shenectady area on dec 9th-14th and am looking for a place to crawl. let me know if you have or know of a place.
