Campbell Buggy Turecker style!

So your all building different version of the same truck?

The chassis is mostly the same as Turtles just with a couple modifications. Pretty much the only thing different with the next three is that the front and rear shock mounting positions are a little narrower on the chassis. This will just allow the shocks to tilt in towards the chassis a little more to clear the tires and get a little better suspension geometry. The rear panhard mount will also be slightly different to get a little better geometry on the panhard bar during the suspension travel. So to answer your question, yes, there will be four of us CO guys running pretty much the same rig just personalized to each owner. We plan to dominate the CO rock racing series.:lol::lol:

Is there a set time for when the CO racing series will begin? I would want to have a rig built by then. And can you give us some details on the rules for said series? Like scale/unscale, 2.2 or 1.9, etc.

We haven't really decided anything on the rock racing series yet, just shooting ideas back and forth between a couple of the guys. 666 and Turtle will probably run the series though. When they finalize details they will post them up though. I'm pretty sure nothing is going to happen until after Scale Nats though so it's still a little ways off.

Alright cool so I have time to build a rig. Hey 666 and/or Turtle, one quick question-would indy suspension be allowed or does it have to be solid axle?

I know Indy will be allowed, there was some people talking about doing that the other day. I wouldn't get too carried away with building a rig yet though because there are going to be some pretty specific rules for the vehicles."thumbsup"

Alright just checking.

Can we get some overall pics of the course that you guys have built though?

We haven't built the course yet, we've just built a couple jumps that you see in the pics in this thread. We're still deciding on were and how we want to do the courses. As soon as we get some more finalized info 666 or Turtle will post it up in the competition forum."thumbsup"

Yeah in reality the rules are not very stiff. We ran one event back in November and it went pretty well but we are modifying the rules just a little .
The biggest difference is the wheel base can now be up to 14" (plus standard 2.2 width and tire size rules). Other then that Not much else has changed. Search for our rock race comp thread. and those are the basic rules.
Well... except the course lay outs and widths will be changed quite a bit. AKA much wider and possibly two at a time. It will also be suggested to have a minimum speed of 20 mph ( there will be mandatory jumps).

When ever Jason is ready"thumbsup"
Dang you guys were busy while I was of the board for a couple hours:lol:
Thanks for all the input guys.

I thought we decided that the rig had to be a tuber of some sort to resemble somewhat of a real rock racing buggy? Is this not the case anymore?

Yeah, I thought that had been decided too.

Mine will be completely different. "thumbsup"

Well of course it has to be tubed, it just wouldn't be a racer without the tubing "thumbsup" I can probably build it fairly closesly so that it could be classified as "scale" but still have the indy suspension. I will probably be the only guy there with a indy rig though...

Ok Ill go over the rules here pretty soon and make the changes"thumbsup"

So rock race class rules (heres what I am thinking).
-limited to tube based scale rigs
-14" max wheel base
-2.2 wheels
-tire no taller then 6.5
-12.5 inches wide, no more then.
-rear steer optional
-no winching
-same body/tuber size rules as 2.2 class
Course set up and points lay out
-Single truck run at a time(possibly two at a time)
-rope lines both sides outlining direction
- reversing will cost no points or time
- winner is determined by lowest overall time
- 3 courses per comp then top 5 finals course
- if ropeline is broken by whole truck, a time penalty will be given of 10 seconds.
- if truck must be rolled over a 10 second penalty will be given
- no repairs will be given during a course run
-if course is not finished a 2 minute penalty will be given on top of slowest time.
-course will be 36 inches wide at the narrowest point
-Caution tape for rope lines.(may change)
-its a timed event counting up best time wins, but i also figure we time it depending on how long the course are going to be. (like 2.2). AKA timing out is a possibilty.

This so far is the new modifiyed rules from back in December when we ran the first comp."thumbsup"
Hopefully Ill have more photos of the buggy soon I got most of the decals on it yesterday. Thanks again Jason
