I had these sitting in front of me and thought this shot would be good for some heated discussions and a poll.

Four companies and four different ideas on designs. Prices are for sets of four.

The Proline, Mayhem, and Erikson wheels are all about the same width, but the VF design takes an extra 1/4" off for a 1" wide wheel. The rings are a little thinner and the screws a little shorter. No drill out if you use a stepped hex like the stock Axial. $99.99 Set

Mayhem Double Phatty Billet wheel offer a ton of color and custom options. They have the trick bearing in the wheel design and don't need an ounce of weight as they are the heaviest of the group - could be they have well over two times the screw count of any other wheel. Required a drill out if you use a stepped hex like the stock Axial. $120 Shipped

The Eritex - Erikson Derlin/Billet wheels were one of the first ever available and remain one of the bomb proof designs with thick lock rings and full depth screws. Required a drill out if you use a stepped hex like the stock Axial. Great price at $80 a pair.

Finally the ProLine Beadlocks - For the price conscious crawler provide a great narrow beadlock that is ready for a couple bands of lead on the inside for weight. No drill out if you use a stepped hex like the stock Axial. $60.00

None of the designs have a vent hole.

Let the discussion begin.

FYI - I don't own EVERY beadlock in the world so don't ask why I didn't include X brand in this post.

I'm not going to vote for a specific wheel because in my opinion, the "best" wheel is the one that gives good quality, is from a company with good customer service, and is what YOU want in terms of offset, weight & material.

Of all four of THOSE choices...the only one that I would say to someone that I wouldn't buy is the Proline's. Reason I say that is because there are so many 2.2 beadlock choices out there now that are only a bit more cost and are a substantially better wheel. I will NEVER own another set of standard plastic beadlocks like the Proline's, Axial's, or Junfac's. Only plastic I feel is good enough in quality and durability are wheels made in acetal (Delrin).

I currently own 5 sets of 2.2 beadlocks, and they are all either aluminum or acetal.

I currently have ericksons and VF wheels, and am waiting on the mayhems. Here's my thoughts.
The VF's are too light, and the wheel face is too thin. I've already bent one of the VF's, and it took a little while to get a replacement out of them, but in all fairness that was during the dig shit-storm. Very easy to mount tires on, hold a bead like crazy
For the money, the erickson's are hard to beat, and I love the look. Great service from Gerame also. a little harder to mount tires to than the VF's, but they hold em fine once you get it.
I can't wait for my mayhems to come in, customer service from them was also great.
I'm with offroader5 though, spending 60 bucks for molded plastic wheels makes no sense. Wait for a sale and you can get ericksons for 60 bucks (what I did) I had a set of axial beadlocks, and they were kinda crap IMO. Not worth 60 bucks, though I would buy them for 40.

Don't forget about MSD's, they're really nice. I don't have any, but I've seen them close up and was very impressed.

Given the choices,I voted for Erickson's.For my money,I would go with them or the MSD's.Both are top notch.

msd's are nice wheels, but as most of you seem to consider customer service into the selection, i can see why the msd's were left out

I love my Eritex wheels. I have a set of "solids" and a set of "heavies". Hold my tires with absolutely no issues and have yet to touch a wheel wrench since I installed them.

The price is also a great selling point also. Barely higher than a set of Axials.

Gerame is great to deal with too. Quick to answer pm's and a very fast shipper.

Mayhem for sure but I wouldn't say its just the Double Phatty model. I vote for their whole lineup as they make an incredible wheel with awesome looks and excellent bead locking capabilities.

I've tried Axial, Eritex, RC4WD, and Proline.

Out of them all, I like the Eritex the best. Any of the high end wheels are good choices"thumbsup"

I was messing with my Eritex wheels today and mounted a losi with half the bead missing on one side to see if it would still hold.

It did....with only 3 screw in place:shock: Im sure the Mayhems would hold one just as good..but lets just say I was impressed
