bent rod ends?

recently ive been swapping out my axial rod ends to traxxas rod ends.

i was just wondering of traxxas made a bent rod end.

i mainly need it for the 109 mm steering rod . ive tried to use the the regular straight rod end but it drastically limits my steering travel because the rod hits the pumpkin, even when my knuckles have a couple more degrees left in them.

i know i can bend the link, but would rather not. i want want my steering links to be straight to keep it stronger

any suggestions anyone?

I haven't found any Traxxas ends with bends like the Axial ones because I'm about to do what you are an noticed that as well. I might run the stock steering for a while and then upgrade to something like the Integy or STRC steering links.

you can put a 4mm spacer under the rod end to get the link up higher
so it wont hit the pumkin

i think that would do more harm then good. putting a 4mm spacer uner the rod end would mess up the steering geometry, therefore lessening torque in steering and causing ur servo to burn out prematurely

I have used these http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/9722
....they are (expensive) top quality "bent" rod ends from Mugen MBX5T Prospec truggy steering links.

do the traxxas steel ball ends fit in those?

the pics ive seen so far of the integy and strc steering links look straight and dont have the bend at the ends unless ur looking at somthing else.
a link would help

i run mine like that, and it does nothing but raise up your steering rod
and get's it that much more out of the way...

the JR8711 i think can take it

im not worried about whether or not my servo (jr z9100t) can handle the added force
my concern in the wasted energy

thanks for the link i'll be ordering one in the morning. ive been waiting to give rpp a try. only wished it came in green.

bent rod ends

This is what I did with the Traxas straight ends for steering. I Got aluminum rod at home depot, cut, drilled and tapped 3mm holes in them. Installed 3mm threaded metal rods. The pictures kinda show the way I filed 2 notches in the steering arm 110mm long-servo to knuckle 80mm long.

I also had to file 1/16 off the diff to clear

Good luck I hope this helps! "thumbsup"

There is alot of metal left. If it breaks I wil post it. The aluminum rods I use are thicker then the Axlial steering arms. The other thing is the steering also sits back a little more so it get hit as much. I'm an alignment and front end tech for Cadillac for 22 years and understand front end geometry. Matt"thumbsup"
