I was running side by side memories... first unvented, then vented. I was never totally happy. I'm trying full axial foams in my panthers now too. For such a simple solution it seems to work really well.

I run a rather heavy rig that is axial based. I run red squishy memory foams cut down by one third on the inside bead and a axial foam on the outside bead. Works great with 2 wraps of lead on fronts and 1.5 wraps on the rear on axial 8 hole wheels.

These tires grip everything in our area. Sidehills like no other.

I run the stock soft foams, uncut, 8 oz in each front wheel and haven't experienced any problems with the tire folding over sidehilling. I think the problem lies in set-up and the amount of weight in the wheels.

Thanks for all the compliments on that picture, it was a fun comp. Only thing about that picture, my rig continued around that cone, but then rolled.... there are some pics under "the bean" compitition. Those are some great pics of my rig rolling down the hill. :shock:

Any way, my tires seem to work quite well right now, so i think i will be leaving them. I personally think its just the personal preference, and terrain your running on when it comes to tires and weights. "thumbsup"

This thread 'forced' :ror: me to buy the Panthers. I just got them last night and only had about an hour to bash around my house and my neighbor's rock garden.

Wow, these are so much better than the stock tires that came with the CR-01. (the whole cliche)...I have been able to do lines that the stock tires could not do. I have also been able to climb my front porch steps (3 steps). With the stock tires all i could do was climb the first step and then flip over when trying to climb the second step. Whatever lines that the stock tires could do, i am able to do much easier with the Panthers.

These tires have so much grip that it actually popped the pinion gear from the motor. I know i should have not kept on the throttle when i saw that the wheel was not turning, but i was just so shocked at the grip. The stock tires would just continue spinning.

Ya ya, i know that any tire is going to be obviously better than the stock. Like I said, I bought this tire because of this thread. Now it looks like I won't be buying another tire for quite a while.

I see many of you guys have had great success running axial foams on heavy berg based rigs. Anyone know if full axial foams will work on lighter axial based rigs? 5 1/2- 6lbs? Mine are all cut up and just seeing if it would be worth it to buy another set.

I just purchased a set of the cougars with white foam (t485s) and a set of Proline Eight Shooter wheels. After mounting the tires, they seam very stiff and not very flexible?

Are the Proline wheels (eight shooters) to narrow for these tires?

Would I be better off using a set of star cut Axial foams?

The white foam will work great.The panther compound will do the work so they do not have to be as soft as other tires and the proline wheel is not to narrow.

Run the white foam and let it break in and if you want it a little softer push the sides of the foam together and trim the bulge in the center of the foam a little . Kinda like this I took a little to much out of this one but I think you should get the point. With the foam being so wide when you get the tire on the wheel it pushes the foam together and causes the center of the foam to push out so when you trim it and then mount the tire it pushes the grove you cut back out and gives a good flat contact patch.

Thank you for the response and info. I went ahead and tried this on two of the wheels to run on the front. Now to find the correct wheel weights.

in my front wheels i am running the two stage foams and i cut the center of the stock panther memory out and wrapped it around the two stage foams in the front this works great and in the rears i run a special cut on the proline white stock foams and it sidehills great i really do like these panthers alot and the more i run them the better they get....

I love my Panthers. These bricks I have set up are slick my Hammers could not climb this angle. I'm running 2 Panther memory foams in the front and one in the rear. http://media.putfile.com/Panther-Test

For those that have tried the Axial foams...what's the report? Just curious. I have been trying 1.5 Ace Memory foams in each front and 2 Ace's in each back tire. Seems to be working better than the Hybrid reds and pinks I was using on my Berg.

I'm running full, uncut Axial foams and it's the best thing I've found. Try them you be disappointed.

That is kinda wat happened to me. The tire needs a stiffer side wall. Even when I ran a stiffer foam still managed to wad the tire and rip it out of the beadlocks.

I have seen Losi tires look just like Ricky's panther. So a stiffer sidewall does no good.:roll:

so my lhs finally stocked these and i picked up a set this past friday, mounted them that night and did a little testing yeasterday.
all i have to say is these things have traction like a MOFO!

normally when im testing indoors i can can easily drive my front wheels up a wall. but these things have so much traction the tires just squat eventually puting the axles in a bind. before, i could rely o the tires slipping a lil, but its like these things are glued to whatever the're climbing. side hilling need little work but ive yet to finish reading all the posts on this thread.

Not sure if it's my berg or my panthers, but these tires are hooked up. Can't belive it took me so long to give in to their uglyness...
