Saw one of Kaetwo's 6x6 chassis and had to have it! So here it is so far. I still need to get some more axle lockouts from rcp, and put the cvds in the front axle to get everything the same width.

I plan to make a tuber style cab for this project, kinda like the globeliner shape. Going to use brake line and weld it up. Also plan to make a wrecker stlye bed that will tilt and slide. Will control it all with a dx5 or dx6...

Using an axi 2217 outrunner, this thing is so torquey, on 3s it has good wheelspeed too. I loaded it down with the battery from the big nylint jeep and it still works well.

If you plan on MIG welding don't use brake tubing due to the aluminized coating for rust prevention, this = ugly, weak welds.. For MIG welding I have found good, strong results by using these materials :

Piano/music wire 5/32" size or what ever works for you. Most hobby stores carry it..
Mild steel rod 3/16" is a good size. Most hardware stores have a selection...Lowes for sure.
Mild steel tube if you can find it in the small sizes needed... good luck with that one... You will need a bender for it or the shit will pinch and a brake tube bender will work for the first few bends depending on the quality of bender you will end up having to replace it when your done.

Hope this is helpful and not regurgitated crap you already know..

I would only braze brake tubing if I ever for some reason try working with it again. "thumbsup". This looks like it's going to be a COOL build...

Thanks for the info. I have had success with welding brakeline before, but I always removed the coating before I did the welding. I may try the solid rod in places as I would like some more weight down low, and it should be sturdy, at least more than the tubing.

That things gonna turn out sick. Did you custom make the second axle or can you buy them somewhere.

Thanks, should be a fun build!

I made the pass thru axle with a pair of front tlt case sections. You have to grind the lip off, but otherwise it was very simple to do. You can buy the cases from the semi truck kits with double rear axles, but they are hard to find sometimes...

Cool, thanks for responding. A 6x6 might be a fun project someday.

I really like it. It climbs really well. I do need to do something with the front shocks, not anywhere near enough travel to work correctly. Any off angle approaches and it likes to flip sideways. i have a cure in my head, just need to break out some tools and get it fixed...

I really need to build the boddy and bed first before I try to setup the suspension, cause with the extra weight i will just be wizzing in the wind now...
