So Harley gives me a call and requested my assitance with some new wheels he wanted to try out for his next season comp rig. When he explained them and the principle behind them to me I couldn't help but laugh...sorry Josh. He swears to me that the "math" he used in the design more than proves the concept. I guess it makes sense to him and he at least pretends to know what he's doin in the crawling world so I humored him. To prove concept he requested something simple so I could keep machine time to a minimum (see pic)...and once we (and I quote) "prove that this is the most superior r/c crawling wheel ever designed" we will do a much fancier high end wheel because once they start winning comps they'll be selling like mad. The design apparently utilizes the same bead dimensions as typical 2.2 wheels, so stock tires will work fine, but he says he's working on some special tires for his personal rig...something shaped liked triangles as well. He claims to have already handled copyrighting the design so he said it would not be a big deal to share with you all.

I told him he is mad and needs to get some professional help but then again, I've been wrong before. Feel free to post up your input and if you are a good friend of my buddy Josh, give him a call and try to talk some sense into him before I waste machine time for such an (and I quote again) "outside the box design". I mentioned to him that this is so far outside the box it has no idea how to even get back to the box...but none the less...here's the pic.

First thought was about steering knuckle clearance. I am sure that can worked around with different custom knuckles. I am not doubting the wheel design. I've seen crazier things work.

Keep in mind the axle is a narrow axle so the offset wheel he needs should not have clearance issues...or so he tells me. I suppose time will tell.

Is this designed to work with the Rock Force?

Knuckle clearance will def not work with a stock RF...but I'm thinking his "new" setup uses cut down RF axles to keep width where he wants it. "thumbsup" Wish he would chime in here!

Perhaps my first post was a bit harsh, I'm sorry Josh. He mentioned being a ll embarrassed about the design and wasn't sure how the crawling community would respond to such an innovative design. Apparently he searched far and wide for evidence to this being attempted before (betting the only evidence is from the prehistoric era tho...epic fail). Anyway, I'm sorry Josh, hopefully some guys will post up some positive feedback enabling us (me mostly) to feel better about this endeavor.

wow

If you loose the spokes and go with the magnetic hub (USE THE FORCE) it might be interesting."thumbsup" And hey ya'll they laughed at the inventor of the
wheel too!!

Let's see the tires for it:lol: I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess there will only be "1" set made for these wheels:lol: He needs to chime in and give us a idea on WTF he has in his head:lol:

I was just talking to him about this.

He said it has something to do with the lower CG of the Rockforce in relation to the lower sales figures divided by the height of the worm gear. Not sure what he meant but, I trust him. He has come up with some wacky stuff in the past so you never know this thing may be the "orange" or possibly "red"

We shall see.... .wonder where he is???

He gave me the same "I did the math" mumbo jumbo. Don't get me wrong, he's a smart guy but some of his genius is just beyond my comprehension. That's why I came to you guys for input.

Did he send this to you too?

Weird, but hey, its growing on me...

I know what you mean... Sometimes he starts explaining things and I get all dizzy.....

I think he's completely missed the boat. Triangles?

Everyone knows that the ellipse is where it's at. Think about it....just when you needed a bit more clearance, all you need to do is give 'er a little more throttle till the wheel rotates and you gain instant axle clearance. "thumbsup"

Great design "thumbsup". I think I have some idea of the principle behind this. Ive seen similar concepts in other industries. Not to sure how it will work in the crawler world though.
