Once again, I'm not complaining about new people. As I have stated already I welcome anyone that wants to play. All I am saying is some people (not newbs) need to stop and think about how good they have it being able to play for under $300. Thats all I am saying. I know everyone doesn't have a machine shop, or knows how to weld. When did I say that was bad? I think its great that everyone can get a chance to enjoy this. People who buy instead of fab pay my house payment every month and I am thankful that they are here.

Its the ones that buy a truck, use it, tear it up and then rant on about the manufacturer being responsible because they wadded it up and didn't let out of the gas. Rock crawlers break, period. I have a Losi mini. I bought it, it tore up. I knew it would. I'm sure Losi would have sent me new parts, but why should they? I crammed it in a hole and beat on it, not them. It worked just fine till I broke it. So I bought better parts for it.

I have several AX-10s. I have broken all of them to. I have a box of broken shafts and trannys. Would they replace them if I called and demanded they did? Probably so. Still why should they. It was a perfectly good truck when they sold it to me, and I tore it up.

I have 2 bergs. I also have box just shy of a metric ton full of broken axles and gears. Is that there fault? No, I'm the one who put a pair of 30t hand wounds in it and a 4 cell lipo in it and took it to comps and beat the hell out of it.

Sure, everything could be made stronger but at what cost? I couldn't have a berg if the axle where $600. If the axial kit was $1000 I wouldn't have one of those either. If the Losi mini came with cromoly lockers and a mamba max with a lipo and a Holmes hobbies motor with a robot servo it would be awsome, but it would also be $600 and I couldn't get one of those either.

I don't think you are going to find any "pro" driver that says a RTR truck or a kit is indestructible, or is going to win a comp out of the box, or is going to last forever with your 8 year old bashing it around in a pile of cinder blocks.

The only point I was trying to make to the select few people, and I repeat the select few, not newbs, or kids, or any group in particular, is that it used to be much much worse. I don't have a problem answering anyones questions and I disagree with those that won't. I'm not any better than anyone else, go search my old post, I have asked alot of dumb questions, I got my share of flaming, and I got my share of good information. I will however challenge anyone to find a post of mine where I ask a question with an "tell me or else" attitude that I am seeing more and more.

I am having trouble understanding where anyone could take offense to my post. I was straight up and honest, I didn't call any names or make fun of anyone. I am simply informing those that don't know what it used to be like, so they can better appreciate the things that they have. As the old saying goes,

"I used to be unhappy because I had no shoes, till a saw a man who had no feet."

I don't feel that complaining is what will get us better trucks, if the design isn't good and the parts aren't weak then people will buy something else, then the next company will make a better one, and so on. That's what will keep the companies in check. No one will be force fed a pos truck, good old capitalism will weed out the turds will a lot less drama.

OK I only made it through about 4 pages of these post but have to put my 2 cents in now.

I am going to have to disagree with a lot of this Kamikaze, sorry.

I am a fan of the existence of the RTR's personally. I don't buy them but I actually like the people that it brings in. Granted some of them are super annoying and I don't always find myself answering their questions on the boards. What I like is that out of the say 10,000 people it brings in, 100 of them may turn out to be people who are crazy talented drivers/builders. I have no problem ignoring people if I want.

All those "annoying" people do is add money to the pot. When the pot is big enough, Company B says "lets makes some crawler stuff". Then we get more sweet parts.

I do get what you mean on the breaking parts and bitching about it though. The only thing you need to remember in you analogys is "intended use".

I think the RTR is a good thing as well, where did a say it wasn't. I never said newbs where annoying, or that I didn't want new people to come into the sport. I'm only concerned with the ungrateful attitudes and the breaking and bitching.

Very good point, I agree.

Also a great point.

To be honest....

Since I got here most of what I see is the "cool" guys giving everyone else a bunch of crap and the "cool" guys taking turns kissing each others ass. I've never seen a bigger bandwagon then this one. The people that will help someone new here are the exception to the rule. Atleast that is my experience. But hey I am just one person, who really cares.

Now someone "cool" call me a noob again....

Also the opinions of everyone else who has posted up is there own, and I don't agree with those elitist attitudes either. Before I am labeled a hypocrite let me set the record straight by saying I am guilty of it myself and I realize that. I will be the first one to apologies if I ever came across that I thought I was better than someone else. I can assure you I don't feel that way anymore.

I guess I should have said it wasn't all towards you. Lots of the other posts said they didn't like the RTR people.

Back when you had to build.... that shit was wack. Too much thinking involved. Why in the world did anyone ever think 90+ degrees of flex was cool?

Yessir boss, just bored.

Back to the serious discussion.

You know I like to cut up as much as the next guy. I know you are just playing, but not everyone knows that."thumbsup" Its all good Dez, I have just had this on my mind for a while now. I don't want it to turn into a new vs old bitch fest.

At first I thought this was a thread about bashing the noobs, and a touchy-feely, good-feeling thread about the "Old Days". I see more and more now what Kamikaze is talking about, and also find myself understanding Harley ( I read this forum too much.....It seems Harley always has a good point  ).

Really the people to blame for popular RTR kits are the people who buy them. A manufacturer will sell as much as they can, for the price point people are willing to pay. I can't afford a $1,000 kit, no matter how good it is. If that was all that was available, I wouldn't be writing this tonight. But when the price comes down to under $300 you start to get attention from casual participants. If that gets people to start playing, and then move on to better stuff, then everyone wins.......right?

Like Kamikazi points out though, don't expect the cheap stuff to last long. Enjoy it while you can and move on. Better yet, skip the kit and build it yourself "thumbsup"

You know the "cool" guys are the ones posting, the noob's and those that agree with me wont post because they don't want the grief. When I have asked questions in the past most of the answers have come by PM - why is that?

Fact is I bought a X-crawler and it broke an axle and the gears seperated while driving in the house - and ya i'm going to bitch about that. I bought a wheelie bar and it doubled over first easy wheelie - piece of crap. The list goes on and on.... If someone sells crap they deserve to get a bunch of grief.
