Northwest Arkie-saw and we got ROCKS!
I've noticed alot of people worried about the Man made stuff at this event. With all the natural rock that is at Donner, do we need man made stuff that don't stay the same for everybody in the course of the day. This is a rock crawling event and not a mud bogg. Save the mud, water for the scalers and save the jello, and cottage cheese for lunch.

Some cables or a wood bridge to get to an other set of rock is cool , as long as it stays the same for everybody and don't fall apart like some of the man made stuff has.

Brain builds some of the greatest courses I've seen and I don't think he needs the man made stuff at Donner for a WORLD class event.

Lets have a poll so they can see how we feel.

I voted all natural!

I do appreciate Parkers creativity when it comes to course building...but i think for a "rock crawling" event of this caliber I'd like to DO WORK on just natural terrain. "thumbsup""thumbsup"

The gold fish in the puddle was a classic move though! 8)

I am like most everyone else, I'll drive a scaler for the mud and such. I didn't build my comp rig to be cottage cheese proof:mrgreen: I don't mind man made things like wood bridges and cable bridges, just not 6in of water to fall into:twisted:

X2 my thoughts exactly

Natural

this is ROCK crawling
not cables, not bridges, not soapy water with dying fishies (that someone should have had to eat, haha). I've never really understood all the man-made stuff when there's so much freaking awesome stuff nature created. Sure, they can be awesome courses, but at the same time, they can really suck.
not saying that Parker isn't super skilled at designing courses, he's pretty much the man when it comes to it, but finding awesome and challenging lines in the rocks more is easier since you don't have to add a bunch of stuff, and that's what this sport should be all about.

Ill drive about anything but,

mud should only be if its unavoidable
water should be shallow, enough to wet the tires and make it slick
bridges should be used for spanning gaps to get from spot to spot versus being a big part of the event.

I personally prefer the real stuff to fake

I have been to Donner twice, and with endless natural terrian the fake stuff seemed unnessasary.

even though i wont be there i think the most man made shit that should be on a course is a cable bridge or wooden bridge. water is cool as long as its only deep enough to wet the tires, leave it at that.

Man-Made? Everything I use comes from Mother Nature. I am glad no one is opposed to the glowing charcoal sluice box and the fire ring jump; aka "leap into hell".

Seriously, thank you all for the kind words on the courses that I design and even though I love the mental anguish that drivers go thru thinking about what they may have to drive thru, here is a little insight:

Rocks.................yes.
Sand..................doubtful
Cottage Cheese...........yes, for lunch, but you won't have to drive thru it.
Mud..................NO!
Fire.................likely.
Water..............plenty, to drink, highly doubtful on course.
KY Jelly...........hmmmmmm, could make a tight sluice box entry easier..
Pre driven courses............NEVER!!!

I, like most, am a true believer in an "event' having it's own character. The Nationals was started to see who was the best Driver in the country, The Worlds will see who is the best driver in the world. Driving talent will be the highlight of this event, not gold fish in a bitchin' water feature, (if I say so myself).

Again, thanks for the compliments, I take course design very seriously and we will have world caliber courses for world caliber drivers.

With that said..............Be scared, be very scared, I can tickle Mother Nature with course cones like no other, what she does to your rig is not my fault.

Look forward to seeing everyone, Parker

Sounds good to me Brian. "thumbsup" I would rather drive through a little fire (heats up the tires ) than 6 inches of water. "thumbsup"

Damn, I had no idea that my innocent post would spawn an entire poll based on not driving in cottage cheese. Good thing we got that out of the way!! I personally loved the courses at WCC and would like to see more of it. I didnt see anything at WCC that I would complain about, you are all world class drivers, I expect that these will be world class obstacles wait I KNOW these will be world class obstacles. Parker, DO WORK SON!!! if they dont like it........THATS A 50 DRIVER!! LOL!

You guys have must have seen 1.9 comp at the CO swap meet. Mix Jason, tennis balls and stunt spray and we had an interesting final course:shock: I have a lipo that can attest to the fire:mrgreen:"thumbsup"

Bring it on Parker! I had a blast there at the WCC, and I'm sure you're getting a kick out of everyone's stress level rising like the water did in the finals course

i never really understood peoples problem with man made obstacles. they are toy trucks, if you are scared to drive through some, maybe you should stick to the mall parking lot.

whatever it is im already looking forward too it, i am sure we will all be in for a treat come end of august

Huh...?

Rock Crawling = driving on natural terrain

Mall Crawling = driving on man-made terrain = Circus features

Man Made courses = 2nd place 2008 East Coast Indoor Championships
6th place 2009 Midwest Indoor Championships "thumbsup"

Natural Terrain outdoors = ???????????? (Maybe I should make some mall crawlin' circus features) :)
