The recent changes to Nats/worlds

What do you think about the recent changes to Nats

I decided to pass on the Nationals/Worlds early, when I heard a rumor that a new location farther out west was being talked about. Hell, they just held an event at this place. I think the Event should be held in a central location say Oklahoma. Everyone would have to travel some but not so bad for any. This Fuchs the easterners bad. Crawapaloza for me this year is planned."thumbsup"8)

Its easy for you to say this because you would have to fly to either site. Its a lot different for people who planned on car pooling.
I guess you're right somewhat. It'll cost me close to the same no matter where it is. I guess I just don't feel sorry for anyone that has to pay more than they would have otherwise, but still WAY less than I would.

What really gets me are all these sponsered drivers that have multiple FREE $1500+ rigs & complain about a $300-400 flight. Cracks me the fawk up. Can you feel the slap in the face to the regular "joe's" that pay for thier own equipment & still make the trip.

All those so called "top" drivers can stay home. Makes it that much less of a challenge to be crowned WORLD Champion.

who is this really good for???
magazines
crawler based companies
crawlers who have money

who does it hurt???
the little guy who enjoys crawling and who spends money already on magazines and parts....

The economy will get worse in the US so it makes sense to expand to the Worlds so certain interests will continue to make money whether it is a dollar a yen or a euro.....

Short notice planning sounds like a corporate decision based on making money
not keeping the core group of crawlers happy but the new money that is waiting to be spent on rock crawling.....

I think with the $95 buy in and the $100 dollar a night i am out. i was barely makin it out there as is and my kids are fond of eating. I would like to thank the powers to be for turning nats into a buy your spot everyday joke of a comp. I worked my but off this year to get my spot and was really excited but for the life of me can not justify over $1000.00 for 2 days of fun. Before you know it the hobby i love will be just another over inflated sport. Dang i really enjoyed comps to this blows. Have fun who ever buys into a spot that was fought tooth and nail for.:evil:

Well I voted "I don't like it one bit"

The only reason I voted that way is, becuase a Large part of my Drivers made it to the Nats. I know I already had one tell me he couldn't make it b/c of this change. A few of my Drivers have a real shot at making the Top 5 and now can't go. Not really a True Champ can be. But thats the way it's happening, Not really surprised either.. I'm sure it'll be good and have a good turn out.

Supers gonna be held on the weekend or during the week?

With the way its gonna be ran , Ill bet my next paycheck its gonna be a thursday or something.

I remember that but I do not think Jason is in charge anymore............
From jason:
We have asked Jake Hallenbeck and Brian Parker from the BPRCA to host this year’s USRCCA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. Their dedication to the drivers and overall comp experience is second to none. This pairing will allow Jake and Brian to focus on running the event while we do what we are good at and provide the best live coverage to date.

Yeah I didn't like it. Though I understand completely why it was done. Do to the ever growing sport. I'm not sure why the dates and information were held to the last second? Possibly Moab BLM didn't give permits this year?

Way to much money and travel time involved for me to even remotely consider this event any more. California isn't as on par with Moab as a vacation destination for me, can't wheel, can't mountain bike, can't hike just not worth going. Gone are the days of good old boys and whole clubs showing up for a good time from across the US. I feel at the current price range only sponsored drivers and ballers have a chance.

The past 3 years I was at Moab it was fantastic. It will be missed.

I'm going to Moab anyways screw the comp.

That is the absolute truth. Sure a guy maybe the best in his local club, but now that means he can't press his skills against the best of the other best drivers of other clubs.

The hobby of rc crawling is becoming just like every other forum of radio control, its run and advertised for the sole purpose of factory drivers running at the event. This hobby was great on the nats level , cause it seemed to be directed towards geting a normal schmoe from jersey meeting a schmoe from cali in an background that showcased both their skills that made them stand out among their peers and friends.

Now its all about who has the biggest and most sponsors .

Are you kidding me?

Every were I turned I saw someone that was rock climbing, mtn biking, road bikes, fly fishing, hikers, and 4-wheelers.

Ever hear of Lake Tahoe?

Its about 30 min away, and you can do all that plus a whole lot more! 11 golf courses and water activities. You can do a million more things in that area with trees, decent food, and good looking women.....3 things Moab will never have:shock:

how will those sponsors react when they hear that the Worlds event doesn't actually have all the top drivers from around the country?

Who cares its a "WORLD'S" you can just buy your way in."thumbsup" The more of the top qualified drivers that do not show the more Lcq they will let in. Covers their but so they get all the money they have planed. Oh well i was spending to much money on this any way. Will change now that they are ruining the sport.

Maybe they'll re-evaluate those who are sponsored by them, giving some spots to drivers willing to support them at all the events with a great attitude. I don't get free stuff (not even a deal beyond the deals the great vendors here give) and have to pay the same as would anyone living on the east coast to get there. This is the comp that matters most...just like racing: winning a worlds is a huge deal more so than any nationals or regional event. What win's the worlds brings business...ask Just Zach's sponsors I know Reign RC sold plenty of chassis after the 08 Nats based on a win.

My only fear with these changes is...will we really be changing locations? If this stops moving or running more than 1 year per location it will hurt the cause moreso.

It'll be good, but keeping on track of the plan is what will make this work or fail. Split the country in 3 regions: West, Midwest, East. (move the event yearly to a location). Or even by the given 4 time zones.
