I just started a new tube chassis to replace the one from my previous build (which is in the 2.2 forum if you've seen it) This one is alot smaller so it's using shortened door, fender panels. More just a buggy with a Bronco grill. I'm just gonna be brief for right now.
  • Gonna try to do an interior
  • I like some rock racing so I'm seeing how wide a summit tranny is too use as a t case (I only got about an inch maybe more so idk how possible it is) I haven't got any repies on the traxxas forum for dimesnsions yet
  • Using 2-56 nuts(little bigger than 2mm) for body panel/crap mounting (I got a crap load of them from someone so these will be alot nicer than big 3mm screws)
What I got done since I started it yesterday morning 8) It's brazing up a bit dirty though. Don't mind the front end, I'm deciding what to do on a bumper

I need to see how tall it is if you laid it on it's side (the width)
And how do you like the gear change? Does it allow you to change from a medium high speed to a average crawl ratio or better?

I really like the gearing change , It will do a slow crawl to pulling wheelies in 2nd gear,
FRom outside of the spur gear to the outside the motor its 3.5 in widelike in this picture
P1010009-2.jpg

the gear box itself is about 2.25 in. wide

Tits...... I only got about an inch to spare. Idk maybe I could just mount it up front where the engine would be but then I still need a T case and it's gonna be heavy.

ahhh spur is not installed in that pic sorry
but you get what i mean right?

the trans is quite big my frame rails are 2.875 wide and it hangs out over them a bit but its worth it if you can squeeze it in there.

Ok, well thanks alot. I'm even thinking about trying to take the gears and make a custom gearbox but I don't have the machine to do it with....yet. lol. I'm gonna probobly buy a tranny anyway cause they go for cheap on ebay, I just missed one for $20 shipped the other day, I was pissed

Got a little more done but I haven't been workin on it 10 hours a day since Thurs. lol. But I started cuttin up the body panels and I've been making panels out of this .030 aluminium from homedepot which I've been cutting on a wood cutting band saw with a metal cutting blade lol, sucks but works ok for this light stuff. I made the seats, roof and 2 floor panels out of it and the firewall out k&s sheet stainless. I'm gonna wrap the seats in something but i dont know what yet.
  • I ordered a hpi gear reduction and I'm gonna see how it will fit and
  • I'm probobly make a simple t case out of 2 pinion gears.
  • I'm gonna braze up the sub frame which will drop about 3/4in
  • I'm gonna be hangin out my grandfather next week so I might be able to get the frame sandblasted if I finish it in time (he works for a relative at a machine shop so I got see what goodies they got there)
Yea, I eat at my work bench alot

micro t batteries (1/3A) (6v) brass tube for the space filler. Not finished, need to find the volt meter to check it. (My father always takes my tools) Looks nasty with all the shoo goo and bad solders, Could not get the factory spot solders hot enough to detach so I ripped them off and grinded the poles with the dremel. "thumbsup" Probobly a little bit bigger than scale. If it holds a charge I'd like to use it as a receiver battery. For the big batteries, I'm gonna use 2/3a (6) in the nunchuck style which will hide under the rock sliders/side skids.

Found the volt meter. (I had it, not my dad lol) And I was getting 4.5v which I wasn't expecting for overcharged batteries which had been sitting for like a year+. So I popped it in the chrager on 1amp then remembered it's not regular 2/3a receiver batteries. It got super hot (smell of burnt shoo goo was in the air) and now I was getting 2.7v, great . Forgot I had a micro t wall charger so I converted that to tamiya plugs and now I can use the adptors for this and my dx6 and not charge on 1amp "thumbsup" I'm pretty sure my dx6 battery was screwed along time ago though. Right now I'm letting it cool and I'm gonna try the microt charger.

Very nice tube work. Cool rig. Waffles need some peanut butter and then a bigger glass of milk. "thumbsup""thumbsup"

Lol, penut butter.

Brazed some nuts on. Very very hard with 2mm size nuts (2-56)
But what I do is have a surface to lay the nut on which is the only thing that seems like would work.

Motor mount: just like full size custom mounts. Dirty but strong. I'll do the other side once I figure out how low it can drop/angle. I'm running out of Silv and my 15' of brakeline "magicaly dissapeared", so I got to get a little more for the sub frame. Then off to the sand blaster so it dosn't look like ass. "thumbsup"
