Bought this for my son so he could come play while I'm competing with my Pimp Cane and I must say I am very impressed with the truck. So far we have had zero problems out of the gear sets (knock on wood:mrgreen:) running through multiple 3900mah 3s Lipo packs. Right now we're running a pair of MG995 servos up front and an S2008 in the rear but the Big Dogs have been ordered, 1/4 scale servos with 435oz/in torque ought to do the trick. When they get here we'll install another BEC, one for each servo.

Moving the links around using the factory holes got the wheelbase to 17.25", just about right. The belly is a little low at a tick over 3", I'm thinking 4" sounds like a good number to try. Still playing with it thus the "suspension limiters" (aka zip-ties:mrgreen:).

We've got a number of bodies for this thing, my son is 8 and changes his mind a LOT! And, the required articulation shots, one tire height and the rear one is juuuuust lifting, perfect!"thumbsup"

Nice Setup!
I think im going to move my upper link mounts to the inside of the chassis and run my lipo on top of them for better weight distribution just like you have it setup. Im only running 1 5000mah pack though. Are their issuse with resistance articulation wise with the battery up there on the links?

No binding issues with the battery. The battery is actually double sided tape and zip tied to a piece of lexan which is loosely tied to the upper links. The lexan flexes so the battery doesn't have to.

Awesome X-Crawler, seing all these completed ones realy makes me want to get mine done. I may have some items sold from another obsessive hobby of mine to pay for what i need for mine, so thats a plus. What tires are those? they look great.

Thanks for the comments!

The tires are Losi Aftershock tires. They're the most comp ready tire that I know of for the Maxx size wheels, soft and 7" tall. We're running full foams plus 12oz of lead in each front one.

Where'd U git those "Losi Aftershock tires"? I really don't like the stock ones, I cut them twice and they ain't no better than b4.
I did a web search for these tires and it just keeps gittin' deeper an' deeper but I ain't gittin' nowhere.

Search Ebay - lots of them.

Only thing to watch out for on the Badlands is the height of them. The X-Crawler comes with tires that are roughly 7" tall and the Badlands are 5.5" tall. That's giving up 3/4 inch of ground clearance. This truck is awfullly wide and needs all the clearance it can get.

have you checked to make sure your shock oil is still inside the shocks? I took mine apart and that have leaked prety much all the fluid out, just enough in them now to stick to all the internal pcs. I will be replacing them, i am gonna have some pics up here soon of what i have come up with.

When these pics were taken I had just serviced the shocks filling them with Team Associated 50wt and inverting them. They've been replaced by Monster GT shocks filled with 1000wt and the belly height is now 4". I'll post up some update pictures once I get my lower delrin links made, should be later this week.

Where do you get 1000wt shock oil?

Also how do the tires do on the rocks?

Looks good!

edit: Oh and you don't need 1/4 scale servos to get a ton of torque. Airtronics 94780M, 423 oz@ 6v. Or Futaba S9157, 425 oz. Both under $140.

I'm using 1000wt diff fluid in the shocks, makes them react nice and slow for the droop setup. The tires work awesome on the rocks, a better driver might find fault in them but the Losi's are as good a tire as I am a driver."thumbsup"

As far as servos there are a lot of 400oz+ units out there but how many can you buy for $30ea with full metal gears? The XTM is for my son and keeping the budget down keeps momma happy. And we all know what happens when momma ain't happy.

Awesome setup

Nice!!!

I am just a new comer in the world of Crawling! I am starting with XTM's X-Crawler and just ordered one last night. It will ship in about 1-2 weeks. I am open to all suggesstions I should listen to before I start building it with parts already ordered.

I ordered the following (inspired by MediC's vedios on Youtube)

X-Crawler kit from absolutehobbyz
RDS8000 radio
2 x 94162Z High Torque Metal Gear BB Servo. (144 oz torque @ 6 V)
1 Novak Rooster Crawler ESC
2 x Novak 55T brushed motors
Trinity Reference 6 Cell Performance Pack w/Tamiya 7.2v/4600mah

That's all i ordered so far and I think I should be ok to start with. What do you think ?

Any helpful hints for things to look out for ?

Thanks & Regards,
Le0Heart

The servos might be a little weak but other wise looks cool

i would do 2 novak roosters. and the (dig it) unit from novak. 1/4 scale servos. Or 2 castle creation sidewinders or MM or 2 tekin FX-R's they have sick drag brake. With that radio you are limiting your self with only one esc. you have more control with two.

Your x-Crawler looks really nice...Good Job..."thumbsup"
Could I ask what your electronic setup is like..."thumbsup" I want to run rear steer and run dig so I'm curious on how to go about it.. I know a punk computer is needed but I'm still a Rookie to the Supers.
Could you guys help me out..?"thumbsup"
