1:7.5 Hummer H2 on 2.2's - Build Project

bending steel didn't work out so well, the jig I used isn't strong enough, so I'll have to come up with a different jig.

I didn't really get any other work done to it, I really want to get the chassis made up so I can use that to see where things can go, how big a waterproof box can be, etc.

Lovin' this build."thumbsup" I kinda have a similar H2 in progress but I lack the full interior and I'm using T-Maxx suspension in front and rear untill I can figure out what to do for a solid axel in back. You gave me some much needed inspiration sir. Thank you"thumbsup"

Well, damn, I am almost ready to give up on this body. I went for a trail ride the other day, and I am going to need a whole new drive train for this to be feasible. The WK is fine for it, but I'm going to need more power and better suspension, and it wouldn't hurt to have some larger wheels.

If you've got the T-maxx IFS, you can always get/make (since you have the capability at CAC) a locked rear using the maxx diff.

For now, I might just have to set this thing aside until I get re-inspired (hope that doesn't detract from your inspiration... better yet, if you get yours going, that may inspire me to get this thing done, who knows.)

Yeah, I actually have a spool in the rear, and the front I'm working on a 2/4wd shifter with a T-Loc diff. I just took out the input pinion and used the diff in-line with the front drive shaft. I really need to take some pics and get the build posted up. I really like the way yours sits with the 2.2's. My first attempt was with a set of 3.2 crushers and it was very "un-scale". haha.. Now I plan to finish up the wheels I have in my avatar (2.75") and the 2.2 Roc Lox just showed up today. (YAY!!!) so they will get stretched over the larger wheel. If my math is correct it works out to be a 40"ish tire with a 20"ish wheel. Maybe we will finish at the same time. haha..."thumbsup" Great build you have going for sure...(subscribed)

Based on the 1:1 dimensions, almost all the dimensions come out to close to 1:7.5 scale. So your 2.75 wheel will be a 20" in scale.
I like the scale-correctness of the wheels, but this body is so frickin big, it needs some more beef to the drivetrain. I'm still on the fence about setting this aside and getting it going, so time will tell.

I might need to talk to you about some wheel designs I had in mind...

Looking forward too seeing more on this project. I just bought all the stuff for my build, I got a 1/10 scale black hummer h2 body, some RC4WD black steelies beadlocks and 1.9 Dick Cepek Mud Country wheels. TR Link let and some new LED's too play with. I'll have to post a build soon.

Ok, here's a sneak peek at my new project:

Don't you hate it when people do that?

Anyways, on to some crappy real pics (Better pics to come with the actual build):

Wheely King Axles
Axial AX10 Transmission
New Bright 1:6 Hummer H2 body/interior (Really 1:7.5)
2.2 Beadlocks - Scales up to 17" wheels
Custom Frame
Wheely King Shocks
Custom Delrin Links
Custom Skid Plate

Dimensions:
1:1:
Length - 189.8"
Width - 81.2"
Wheelbase - 122.8"
Wheels - 17"
Height - 79.2"

1:7.5:
Length - 25.25"
Width - 10.825"
Wheelbase - 16.75"
Wheels - 2.2"
Height - 12"

Most of the dimensions are scaled down pretty close to 1:7.5, alot closer to scale proportion than many 1:10 bodies I've seen.

I got this body from another member here, and it is big. The wheels and tires in the pics are borrowed from my Comp Crawler, but I'm looking to get tires that are about the same size as the rovers, but more scale looking.

I'd like to put a sub box in the trunk, I've got the perfect one already picked out:

It fits perfectly in the back area, and the speakers actually look scale. Plus it's bluetooth capable, so I can hold the iPod in my pocket and control the music remotely. It's got it's own rechargeable battery too.

It's kind of heavy though, 11oz, but the whole truck is pretty heavy as well, so hopefully it's not that big of a deal.

I want to get a worm geared robot motor to convert into a winch, using a servo as a cheap speed controller. I'll likely just make some winch rollers for the front bumper as if the 1:1 had the winch behind the bumper.
I might get two and make a rear winch as well, but I'll either need a 6ch radio, or figure out some ingenious way to wire it.

The body has spots for LEDs and I'll probably use my 3Racing LED box to power and control them, but the headlights are begging for some huge ultra-bright LEDs, so I don't know.

For paint, I will probably somewhat "Murder" it out, and just go with a satin or flat black, with the black proline wheels.

Maybe something like this:

There will be a little work on the interior, but not much. Maybe a scale figure or two, and maybe a camera mount for in-vehicle-videos. The spur and trans needed a little trimming, but it's not very visible.

I've got a lot to do, but right now it's actually a roller, and I can at least run it in between working on it.

Any suggestions? Comments?
