After completing the Bronco on the CC01 chassis this frees up my new Outback Wrangler chassis for a Jeep build as i originally intended. I've got my new YJ body and every Jeep accessory that Corey makes for the RPP Outback series including a few extras. Another big red CC build on the way, thought you guys might be interested in watching the build

I got started with the assembly of the chassis using the suggested Hilift axles and tamiya leafs. I'll be using another set of the RC4wd revolver shackles and the same shock setup I used on my Landy build. Pics shortly just thrying to get you caught up with where I left off with the build this afternoon.

Returned home from the office today on Thurs to find a bunch of boxes....
One was stuffed full of my Jeep parts, a teaser shot details on the way!

Okay, I'm exited now...today was a total Jeep day!
My swing shackle replacements are here and I'm ready to start assembly.
The new garage floor is dry so I can get some good pics.

Started by ripping it all down again to make some adjustments, here's what I've got so far...
- Installed a new 35T motor and greased the tranny internals.
- Made two new drive shafts from AX10 parts (steel U Joints)
- Prepped the front shocks for paint and just got them installed (will be removed after all adjustments are made for paint)
- Mounted the 1.55 Mudslingers on aluminum RC4wd Classic 5 Lugs

After some grub I got right back into things, starting with the swing shackles and adjusting the rear pinion angle so it's not such a severe drive shaft angle... I honestly thought it would be tricky with such a short wheel base but again it seems to be a very well thought out setup. One of the nice things about the frame and other Outback parts is that they're a direct fit with all of the RC4wd products, hardware and all.

Here I took a shot to show that the ride height is pretty much identical with the "Shooter Shackle" installed on the driver's side.

In this pic you can see that I moved the front leaf spring mount back one hole to compensate for all of the forward movement when the suspension is fully extended. Just have to drill and tap a small hole to get a bolt back in. This step is not necessary if running the supplied shackles.

This isn't even close to being fully extended yet, there's almost no weight at all to make the suspension flex in the front. You can see the shackle doing its job though allowing the spring to twist without restriction and extend. You might have noticed the longer shafts on the drivers side shock....I run 100 - 110mm shafts inside 90mm shock tubes. This makes it so the shackles can fully extend without being stopped by the shocks.

All buttoned up now and sitting just right.

Can't wait to get all of the weight and have things soften up so we can see how it flex's.

Next up...mounting the body.
This literally took me 20 minutes....so easy and it's only 1 thumb screw to remove the entire body.

First I used the RPP Outback Spare tire mount and rear bumper and bolted on my spare (temporary rim till I can get the matching one)
The bolt passes through the mount and well past. This leaves enough to go through a small (approx 1/8" hole) in the rear of the body.

The front mount comes with the Wrangler chassis set and mounts to the frame just in front of the steering servo.

Took this shot to show where the mount rests against the body.

I drilled a hole so I could use this thumb screw for easy access on the trails. I was going to use velcro to mount the front instead of the screw for a slightly cleaner look which is just as easy. I think this will be stronger though and will look less obvious when you see the color scheme.

Just getting the wiring placement mapped out.
I'll be using 2 Axial SCX10 water proof cases for my electronics, one for the Tekin FX ESC and the other for my RX.

Well to wrap up my afternoon I just couldn't walk away without seeing the accessories tacked in place

Next step will be getting the foundation for the interior panel in place and making my clear windows.

Thanks guys, it's gone together super easy so far...fun build!
Bad night on tv so I ran out to get the body work done on the rear so it can cure overnight.
Filled the raised body mount area and reinforced it from behind.
Made diamond plate covers for both sides.

Should have the body work complete by tomorrow and then will start on interior next.

One question, does the slinger sot roght on the cooper rim?
I got some stompers and Kawada minis but the tire is far from tight on them. I have come to think that I got a case of bad molding.

Thanks for the cool comments guys, I'll try to keep you entertained!
Still feeling under the weather but I dragged myself out in the middle of the night to make some progress.
After some trimming and sanding I got my first coats of primer on.
I took a bit of material off of the stock fender flares so when the new ones go on it won't show a double edge.

In the front I removed the extra material on the grill (used to hold the fog light bracket) and made the openings all the same. The hood I removed the tie downs and windsheild bumpers in the center to maks a smoothe surface for the decals after paint.

Just sprayed the first coats of gold base, after it tacks up it's red clear time!

Also got a ways into the interior panel and just have some finishing touches and painting to add

Where did you get the diamond plate?

Diamond plate was styrene stock available at our local hobby shops. It's nice because you can choose whatever scale you like. Brand name is Plastistruct.

The spare "Cooper" wheel is just temporary till I can get the proper wheel to match. The tire did fit the wheel but the RC4wd tires I find sometimes you have to trim some material off of the bead to sit into Tamiya wheels....the one shown is a HPI wheel from one of my Cup Racers.
