except for those damn prius and camry's, those things can't go fast enough to stay out of your way. i sure hope those gas pedals start to get "stuck in the carpet"

Camery's should be able to move pretty good if you put your foot down, the problem rests mainly with the rolling roadblocks that drive them. Now Pios', especially with a dying battery on the otherhand........................................

Some will say I am biased because I work for Toyota as a tech but when I get tons of cars into the shop with the floor mat like this I am not surprised they are having a problem

This is how it was when I got into this 4runner...Is it Toyota's fault the customer is a ra'tard and cant put their floor mat where it belongs??

I had another car today, had 4 different floor mats in it stacked one on top of another  The media blew this whole thing out of proportion....

well my floor mats always moves up. its just naturall.
but my 5 fords,2 dodge,or my cj have never had an issue.

but the mat is always under the pedal.
preventing full throttle,not causing it.

in your pic it looks like its nearly ontop of the pedal.
I've never had this happen. and dont believe its the norm.

toyo has a problem, thats why their fixing it.

4Runner also is not involved in this recall either...

To each their own...the fix is a shim the size of a stick on wheel weight in a few different thicknesses which makes the pedal return better...I dont give a shit what kind of shim goes into it, if you floor mats gets all bunched up like this your are going to have a problem regardless...

Out of the 100+ plus cars I have test driven in the past 2 weeks not one has stuck on me...nor has my dealer ship had to have any one persons car towed in for it sticking....

Yeah Toyota is fixing it, because they ALWAYS man up...what it is that they are fixing I am not even sure myself...IMO there is no cure for STUPID if you drive around with your floor mats like this.

I'm pretty sure the "sticking" pedal isn't a mechanical issue, it's a software problem because all of the vehicles on recall are all drive-by-wire. I'm pretty sure this has been confirmed, but Toyota won't fess up to it yet.

I like toyota,I also know that my mats always do work up into the pedal.
but like I said,it never causes throttle,it actually limits it.

seems to me a simple fix if it is the mats is to make mats that are stationary. my wifes nitro has a tab in the mat that prevents it from moving.

and you know that the problem will get resolved.
I just hope that they have the problem figured out.

in our area DFW
a woman lost her family when their toyota went into a pond.
was it the floor mat,or something else?
I dont know.but I know a woman has lost her children and husband.
basically her whole life has vanished.

the problem must be solved.

I think Toyota is out sourcing to many of their parts now, and trying to lower the cost of manufacturing.

But Toyota also goes way out of their way to handle recalls. My 89 pickup was covered for the relay steering rod a couple years ago. It was almost 20 years old, and they still fixed the problem for free. Most if not all other manufactures would put the blame on that failed part on wear and tear. And look at the effort they have put behind replacing/buying back rusted out Tacomas.

The news is bored with global warming and war, and the swine flu is old news. This gives them something else to blow out of proportions.

Maybe , just maybe if your gonna drive you might wanta think about what you would do in just a situation. I assure you that Pilots and others who operate machinery that could hurt someone know what to do in case of a emergency. If your car is floored and you don't know what to do, turn the damn thing off. I'm a Auto Tech for a living so I also see all kinds of crazy shit happen to cars. But if your gonna drive any car, or operate any kind of machinery you should have a Ol Shit plan.
And Yes , the media is trashing Toyota rather you want to believe it or not, I'm American so I believe you should buy a American Car but Toyotas are Badass Lil Cars for sure and if you don't like your Prius, 4-runner, Corolla, etc, I will pay bottom Dollar and I don't care if it's been fixed or not.
If you drive any car and don't know how to turn it off in a second or two during a bad situation. Then go set in your driveway and practice cause your throttle Cable in your Beamer could stick tomorrow and then the News will have to go after BMW, or whoever."thumbsup"

my 94 and 95 fords just got some free work done last summer.
some kind of sensore. for the lift pump/or crank shaft I dont know.
but they took care of it.

so I dont know about other manufactures putting it off as wear and tear.

but FORD dont.

granted we all should be prepared.
but if its happening to many and not just a couple. then its a manufacturer problem and should be fixed.

and I have talked to my wife about such things.
and DONT turn off the motor.

no she will put the car in nuetrul this way she has no chance of the steering wheel locking. or losing power steering/power brakes.

if the motor blows,it blows. big deal.

but I prefer my wife be in a car that doesnt have those issues.
and if it ever gave her any trouble its gone.
but we have many trucks we can drive.

the woman who lost her family in dfw may have only had 1 car.
I dont know, but I do know that the car was taken in for stuck throttle

THREE times. and nothing was found wrong and given back to her.
then she loses her family as the result of what appears to be
a stuck throttle.

how much time did the driver have before it went imto the water?
I dont know. how fast can one actually react when that happens.
I would say that it would depend. and no matter how prepared you may think you are.
you may not be able to react fast enough to avoid a collision.

I know the exploders had their problems.
and the peoblem was figured out and resolved as they all should be.

no car company want things like these to happen.
but when they do,the problem must be pin pointed and corrected as fast as possible.

life is to presiouse for anything less.

Agreed. They gotta do something to sell their product. Good news doesnt sell!"thumbsup"

I'm American so I believe you should buy a American Car but Toyotas are Badass Lil Cars for sure
There's a HUGE Tundra plant in......San Antonio, Texas."thumbsup"

The neutral shift is probably best for sure and as you told your wife, and anyone else. If your gonna drive except a lil responsibility and THINK PEOPLE.
