Does this comm need cut, etc? W/Pics

If you can always cut it with a lathe...However you said it had poor performance before you cleaned it out..Just looking at your first pic's of the com and some of the wires look fried..might be very wrong but if the insolation is sizzled it will never run right..send it back to HH if it is...Hope that helps..."thumbsup"

Your best bet is to get a hold of JRH through PM or post this in his motor help thread in the vendor section. Yes your com looks to need cut. Can't tell on your brushes because they are still in the hood. Looks like your timing is off and it is arching bad. JRH in 3..2..1..

Run it at 3 volts with two 1.5V C cell batteries with no load on it till the batteries are dead.

That's what I've read, anyways. I'm going to do that to my new motor but I'm going to stick it in a cup of rubbing alcohol first.

I say that because having a good true diamond tiped lathe is the key to a good comm

BTW, you awlays replace your brushes after you cut the Comm.

In the long run, if your motors are expensive or you know how to cheat your motors to make them preform more efficiantly then its a good lesson to learn and an a good investment. But if its a cheapo motor that isnt hand wound or whatever the case may be. just purchase a new motor. Im sure John takes used motors.

I've not looked, but I wonder if the HH Pullers will even fit in a comm cutter? I could look I guess...

Yes, I mean submerged. I'm still reading up on it though... apparently it cleans better and evaporates faster but I'm not sure...

I might just throw the motor in some distilled water though, just to be safe.

Got an email from jrh a couple days ago, comm is cut, brushes replaced, new endbell, bearings, already broken in and should arrive today with a Torquemaster ESC and CC BEC. One week turnaround since I shipped."thumbsup"

My Cobra comm lathe won't cut a puller arm but I would cut a comm that looked like yours and throw on new bushes it would be better than new.
