xr10 parts and custom made parts build

I just narrowed two of the stock wheels for the rear in a similar fashion. When i was done cutting, I didn't even see the need to glue them though. The inner sleeve aligns the two pieces and the screws keep everything together.

Besides... I was out of superglue

Tried them yesterday and they work great. Nice and light. I think you will be happy with the result.
yes, nice and light, this is my 2nd set. i just thought someone else might be thinking of doing the same thing so i took a few pics. the reason i used epoxy to glue them back together is to make them stronger. also they stay put when changing tires and/or foams.

have you run them with weights?

I have some WheelWorks slugs that are the same diameter as the VP slugs but are half the length. They still fit in, but I have to use a lexan ring to retain them. The stock Y thing is too thick.

I don't add weight to the rear so I'm going to try to remove those tabs that the weights butt up against too. I think today I'll narrow the other two and see how they work out on the front.

I don't think I have ever used front and rear wheels that matched :ror:

here is final steps. put all 3 pieces of the wheel back together, just like a stock wheel. pull the wheel slightly to create a 1/4'' gap. mix up a small amount of epoxy, and put in the grove. once you have gone all the way around, push the wheel back together.

"thumbsup"that is exactly the reason i narrowed mine:lmao:. the 2nd set is for the front, i got tired of the tires changing the preload on the springs. after each run id have to back off the preload.:lmao:

how much weight do you run in the front wheels?

With gold springs all the way around and with the battery on the axle, I am having good luck with each front tire/wheel combo at 12.5 oz. total.

If I dropped any below that I would have trouble with the front end settling. Now if I could find some softer springs... 8)

temporary wheel weights

have an idea on making some temporary wheel weights. gonna make a few then take some pic's. will post soon.

Dont worry Harvo, losi is testing some 0.8 springs"thumbsup"

JKid... where did you hear that about the losi springs?[/QUOTE]

I was reading Del Monte's thread in the LCC section and he said something about it a week or two ago.

What did you do... melt them down and cut them out? They look pretty decent for homade lead.
nope, just used a body hammer to beat the corners down, then i hammered them flat. only took about 3 min. per slug
