Futaba 4PL Setup, Tips, Tricks & Help

I only have two small gripes about this radio

1. Wish it had replaceable grips to help with comfort
2. Wish the timmer was different for us crawlers if you have it count down and push the button it resets but automaticly starts, if you have it count up it will start/stop with the button but has to reset in the menue and it will keep counting past your set limit instead of reseting after it gets to your limit.

Those are my only complaints and they are very small would still recomend this radio

I just got the 4pl back from Futaba. There is a pause between reverse and forward, is this normal and also reverse seems stronger then forward. any suggestions.

After coming from my DX3R with rubber grips, I agree with this. Luckily my softball buddies have some killer bat wrapping tape that I'll use on the handle.

Got my 4pl today, pulled it out of the box and verified the dreaded "b010" & back in the box it went with a note, and off to Hobby Services it went.I don't think it was in my office 10min.Kinda sucks (Lol)

It took them 6 days from the time i sent it till i had it in my hands again. pretty quick i thought

Is Futaba USA the only one doing this update? I live in the Philippines and we don't have a Futaba service center here. Also, are the new 4PL coming out of the factory already updated? If so, I can wait for the new stock to buy my 4PL.

I think Harley stated 2 other locations that do the update, both outside the US.
I believe the reason most places in the US are out of stock is that the updated 4PL's are now coming in.

I don't know the other locations that are capablenof doing it, sorry.

When the new batch arrives at towerhobbies soon, they will be the newest versions.

I had to increase the Throttle Dead Band, to Large 0.1500ms, on my new Mamba Micro Pro's to arm with my new 4PL (just back from updating). Is this normal?

Both of the mamba mirco's would arm on my 3pmx, before increasing the Throttle Dead Band.

I would also like to know if there is a way to have throttle EPAs and curves apply to both ESCs. So far I haven't found a way to do that.

Thanks!

Tomi

Harley,

I am running dual FXR's/35ts (0deg timing) and trying to work out an issue with a sensitive trigger in reverse. Forward feels fine. I really think the revese trigger is too sensitive and even had a few other people try the truck, including a past nat. champ and they all agree. Also Aaugman's the only other person I know localy with a 4pl and he had the same concern when I brought it up to him.

The settings for throttle give you an adjustment for forward and brake "throttle curve" which totaly clears up the senitive trigger in reverse but it only helps the front motor and not the rear running on channel 4. Is there a way to get the specialty adjustments for throttle to also apply to channel 4?? If not, can we get the programming changed again so this is possible . IMO when in Dual ESC Mode the throttle adjustments (throttle/braking curve, ABS, ect) should also apply to channel 4 in Dual ESC Mode.

Have you turned mixing mode (mxmd) on in the duel esc menu as I suggested in an earlier post?

It works great for me.

I turned on mixing mode, but it doesn't change anything for me. EPA only affects the ch2 ESC. I'm still using the v1 software. Would this be the reason?
