Futaba 4PL Setup, Tips, Tricks & Help

I sent an email to Futaba about not having the update.... lets see what they do about it. :???:

Their reply will depend if I stay Futaba or not... the new DX3C looks like it'll do what we need ;)

Update: well... this is a good start..

So Harley, I have an unused 2s li-po. Will I hurt anything if I use it to run my radio & change the battery type in the system menu. I looked at the O-M and it didn't say anything this, other than to change the battery type in the menu. Also will the radio warn me of low voltage or is this the trade off for using li-po?
Thanks.

The 4PL is setup to run LiFe batteries, which have a lower voltage then LiPo. You cannot just hook up a LiPo and change the batt type. The low voltage alarm would go off at 4.2v which is also too low for your LiPo. Do not use a LiPo.

Is there any talk about selling a 4PL carrying case? Also, how does one attach a neck strap to a 4PL? Thanks!

This one (LiFe 6.6v) is a perfect fit.

I have one in my 4PL.

Futaba's Reply tomy email...

Thank you for your recent e-mail.
You need to contact the dealer you purchased it from to find out who handles the Futaba support in their area.
Sorry, we couldn't be of more help to you.

I contacted RC Mart originally and they said contact Futaba :P

Anyone want to buy a 4PL?

What serial # do you have?
Thanks
J

B012xxxxx not sure if mine has new update or not...I thought all the new ones would have update but apparently not. Is there a way to tell other than actually running a moa rig? My moonbuggy isn't finished yet so I haven't even put batteries in my controller yet.

I am assuming that you contacted the U.S. Futaba service center?

They are correct, it would not make much sense for you to send your transmitter all the way here (shipping cost, shipping time and possible duties) to be serviced. Technically, the FCC does not want the U.S. service center working on Australian systems.

Here is the Australian Futaba service center information.

I have not heard of any B012xxxxx serial numbers not being updated. I have seen some guys in other countries posting up that theirs are not updated, but they are a different serial number.

Harley,
I just go my Tx back. It was a very quick turn around. I do however have one question on programming. With a dual esc setup, is there a way to ad exponential to the second esc (ch4)? I was just trying to tame the reverse in the fxr. I can set the exp for ch 2(throttle) but it doesn't follow for the second esc on ch4.

Thanks,
Mike

Go back in to the dual esc setup and set MXMD to Mix. That will do it.
