Rollin coal... Ghey or Cool?

But as for the discussion, rollin coal is ghey along with any stack on a pickup

Unless the stacks are on one of these...

The huge stacks, I just dont get. To each their own I guess.

With the popularity of diesels increasing at the drag strip, alot of them are requiring the exhaust to shoot up instead of out...nothin like bein blasted full of soot while a guys spoolin up his turbo at the line...
then put that shit out of the hood, they'd get lower EGT's anyways. plus if your drag racing a truck IMO it'd serve better purpose. and yes I have seen DD diesels with a single hood stack, here it just has to clear the cab.

My diesel doesnt smoke at all except under harsh acceleration with a heavy load. And even then its not much.

From what I understand this is how a proper running diesel should act. Rolling smoke at low speed with no load at will is like driving down the road with your ass hanging out of the window. Nobody really wants to see or smell that.

Ghey as hell.
Blowing black smoke just for the sake of blowing black smoke, along with having huge ass stacks on a diesel pickup is the hillbilly equivalent of putting a huge fart pipe on your grandma's hand-me down civic.

ok, i love black smoke, always have. but rollin coal from every stop light is dumb. a little black puff under normal acceleration is cool, preferred honetly. under heavy load is the only time when you should be "rolling coal." watch some truck pulling and dyno run videos, thats when it ok. and no it does not mean its poorly tuned. oh and i like stacks too, they just have to be tasteful.

Came across a fag today rollin coal with like 8 inch stacks. every time he passed someone, i kinda wish i had the duals to just lay plume of soot on him.

Nice.

There's a local guy with a pair of swinging bowling balls chained to his receiver hitch. I see him all the time but never can get my camera out fast enough.

X2!! "thumbsup"

You know, I read somewhere that the original prototypes for this truck supposedly had straight cut stacks with the flappers on them to keep the rain out and when Car and Driver tested the fastest new cars offered here in America in 1976 or 1977, the prototype was one of the fastest. One magazine speculated at how that thing had to look at 120+ mph blowing down the straightaways with those flappers hopping around between the exhaust pushing up and the air trying to push them back down.

That would be interesting to see,/ know what happens.

It supposedly makes the Turbo spool faster due to the exhaust being denser but it also raises egts and lowers the cylinder temperature = less efficient.... that's what I've put together so far lol
