flat iron 2.2 reduced to 1.9??

i have done that to a set a while back, they will be wide but they are the same hieght as 1.9 flat irons. they look awesome, you just have to cut 4 tread lugs out and you will have the right fit."thumbsup"

here is a pic of where to make the cut on the lugs, be sure to cut the sides at some what of a wedge. i didn't have a picture of the tires i cut but he is a picture i found and added the lines for the cuts.

I took a full set of 1.9 flat irons and cut the outside 1.8" and the glued them together and they look amazing. much easier than cut and shut. (just and option)

Ive done it but had to narrow it cause it was rediculously wide. Comes out to the same height as a stock 1.9.
Matt

Why would you narrow it and cut em instead of just buying 1.9's? I want 1.9 cause they don't rub as much but I don't like em narrow, I want em wide and IMO the rim size is more scale.

I love messin with tires. I was tryin to make a little more aggressive tire and succeeded but had to do alot of narrowing. They are an awesome mud tire! I have since moved on to makin slight taller Irons, taller TSLs, shorter 2.2s, 2.2s with 1.9 sidewalls...you name it, its an addiction I swear LOL. Its all in fun, grab some scissors and some CA glue and go make somethin different!!!

And dont worry bout payin $60 for a glued together tire, cause Ive found that often times those tires (with good foam) can walk all over the other tires on the market, and be JUST as reliable plus look really different. You can make any tire fit your rig/vision of what you want with a little work.

I was looking at the panther cobra's and they look purty mean. 4 inches tall, 2 inches wide and 2.2. Then I was looking at some imex tires like the swap dawgs and claw dogs which are 4 inches tall and 2.5-2.8 inches wide  for 2.2. I don't want tall I want wide for a better foot print. Where I live we have rocks and sand dunes so I want tires that will do great on both. I also looked at the panthers that have been cut and narrowed to 1.9 and they look good but too narrow for my liking.

I think the flatirons will be the best bet for what I want. 4.8 inches tall, 2.2 inches wide. I can just snip every other lug on the edge to give it better self cleaning. I'm still thinking of doin the flat iron 2.2 to 1.9. Its very tempting cause that would be exactly the look I want.

Find somebody with a trashed set in their junk bin and do some practice. I've got some worn out Losi claws kicking around that I was going try to cut down to 1.9s just to see how it goes.

Personally I love how the 2.2 flat-irons work as-is, but I want the clearance and I'm willing to lift the body a bit to get it.

I'm wanting to do the same thing with 2.2 flat irons it looks awesome. I was wondering though will the inside of the tire rub the steering knuckle cause with 1.9s the tire is already so close to the knuckle?
