I have a 87 turbo yota in the back with a stepside factory after market bed and it does not have inner fender wells like a typical bed. If you leave those out youll be golden
Nice job man, you did it well.
I would say for a body mount. use a piece of aluminum and bend it in the correct areas so when mounted to the chassis sides it can be mounted using some black button head screws. Makes it hold up better to abuse.
and as far as body mounts you can use servo mounts on the frame and bolt through the bed.. clean and not very noticble:mrgreen:
Have you thought about leaving those inner wheel tubs out since it's a stepside bed?
Kinda like a Chevy
That's just what I was gonna say too...but I got to the party too late !!! "thumbsup"
Hey bud...I didn't know that you were gonna use that Rogue kit on an OG Hilux !!!
No worries though...the Rogue bed kits don't depreciate much....actually...most guys MAKE money on them when they sell them ! :ror:
If I would've known what you were using it on...I would've showed you how I did my drop bed in my WIDESIDE Yota.
I was originally wanting an OG Hilux bed for that project...but knew that it would be hard to find...and probably expensive.
So I got lucky and Matt (DINKY) hooked me up with some Big Bear Datsun bedsides....and it worked out about the same as yours...close enough for me anyways ! LOL
LOL...thanks !
I'm pretty sure that I showed most of how I built the box part....in the build thread (I plan on getting back on this build later this week...hopefully!)
~WideSide Yota~
Now back to MSD's OG Hilux...(I'd LOVE to have one of these bad boys!)
What's next on this one?
Because they're never done....are they ?
On your rear shocks....alot of the time....you can get more shock travel, a longer shock and better articulation.....if you make a simple bar that goes from one side of the chassis to the other side......and then just attach your shocks to that....like this / \
That helps ALOT...when running drop beds.
Also...if you don't want to run your shocks like that....you can run a longer shock in droop...or semi droop....or reverse sprung...or a combo of any of those !! LOL (Lots of choices there !!)
Here's how I did this one with a drop bed:
It works great out on the trails....and flexes pretty well on my table too ! LOL
