Todays world is turning to crap. cant find a hobby store within an hr of me, and anyone you call, Do you have a wraith in stock... no we dont carry that. why not? I mean 99% of the stuff I buy online, but I wanna hold something now! I can get it on ebay for 360 free shipping and no tax. Half the time you go there all they do is say they can order it or dont have crap for parts. I dont wanna complain it just sucks anything you want for a project you have to wait for.

Usually in that situation I ask for tax in discount since they don't have it in stock and they also eat the shipping but hey they get the sale. Win win for you, although either way you gotta wait. Despite the trend of current American society, some things are not instant and there's no pill for abstinence "thumbsup"

its just funny in any direction north east west there a hobby shop and no one ever carries anything = /. Yes it sucks waiting but you almost cant even go to a store and buy what you want like back in the day. Went to sears for a toolbox just a basic plain top chest, and had to wait a week. youd think theyd have some in stock especially sunday morning when there sale started. Oh well, just woulda been easier to buy in person. I just hate thinking about coming home to nothing after a long crappy work day

What is "Tax in discount"? This sounds like something I'd like to bring up next time I go to a store and they tell me they can order the item but don't have it in stock."thumbsup"

With today's economy, I don't think the hobby stores can afford to stock everything. Also, today's society only cares about cheap prices.

That said, waiting for online purchased parts is a relative thing. You fellas in the US are lucky to get stuff in 2 or 3 days. Us Canucks have to wait a week minimum...usually 10 days to 2 weeks and even longer with anything coming from overseas.

I started building my Wraith in Nov...still waiting for a couple of items to finish.

I think he means that you basically pay the sticker price. Say something is $299.99+ tax. Well, you'd pay only $299.99.

I hate waiting for something to come in the mail. I have the worst patience for something like that. All I do is watch the window for the truck...

I've pretty much gave up on the lhs since they only have like 10 parts in stock. They always say, "we can order that for you." Yeah, I can order it too.

Oh, but if you want anything Traxxas, they have it... sad.

^^^This +1^^^ So true!:flipoff:

Ive had 4 LHS within 10 mile difference of one another. Now ive got only got one due to one having poor managment and other been hobbytown. The only one weve got is slowly getting crawler parts in, and hes also said give me a list of items that are most common and ill get them in stock for you guys. BUt like any other store. its all about short course trucks, airplanes an heli's. So he orders what we went and gets it in and he if cant get it then ill go rpp way

The one local store was good about crAwlers but sucked at service. owner was rude and didnt care if he sold something or not and it wasnt long an the doors was shut

For every Wraith there is roughly a billion Traxxas products.

Which parts do you think the hobby shops will sell more of?

Its not a mystery.

I just think it sucks that there arent more hobby stores local to my area. I would rather take all of my business to a local hobby store than buy it online any day.

It would be nice if I had the cash to open my own place. Have an course for crawlin and a place for racing.

Its nearly an hour and a half to my nearest hobby shop and unless you've got a Traxxas, a plane, or a train you're screwed.

Another 45 minutes and there is a Hobby Town, which is slightly better.

Being in Champaign Il is frustrating because hobbico and tower hobbies warehouses are literally 2 blocks down the street from my house. However i have to order from them online and pay to ship it. As for store front hobby shops we have one that is the typical traxxas planes and helis. Have another one that does nothing more than take my order from their website at a discounted price from tower or hobbico, drives down the street in their van and picks it up. I get it for less than tower or hobbico, same day if ordered before ten, and no shipping because i can pick it up for free. Win win. REALLLLY sucks when they dont have something since im so used to the lower prices.

There is an RC specific shop 4 blocks from me, I bought my AX10 there (they price match), they also had both versions of the LNC, and an XR10 on the shelves (no other crawlers). They still have them sitting there too, 16 months later. They used to have a rock pile too, it was removed to put in a counter to sell air soft. At one point one of the guys in our club worked there, and he was the only one who ever worked there that cared about crawlers. Since he left, any parts they did stock aren't restocked. The staff are all friendly, and I'll get some electronics there, or other RC goodies, but I do my part shopping at RPP mostly.

Psh try havin this hobby here in Japan. Even when I do find a hobby shop I can't communicate what I am looking for. Some places take a month for their stuff to get here. That's if they ship APO. Most places are starting to though. It is nice being able to actually go in somewhere and actually look at in person before buying something yer not quite sure on.

Wow, we are definitely spoiled here in Sacramento, CA. We have a hobbytown in town 10 min another 20 min away. A private hobby shop who had a nice indoor track and crawler course who moved from 20 min away to a block from the local HT  So far all carry crawler stuff. Now in that same 20 min radius we have one of the largest hobby shops in the area that also stocks a lot of crawler stuff, then a smaller one which has some crawler stuff. Then one who moved from 20 min away to 30 min away. Then a small hobby shop but one of the nicest outdoor on road tracks in the area who can order anything but doesn't carry crawler stuff. I know guys at most and from what I hear there is not a lot of profit margin in kits. I try to buy locally to support whats here but when we're talking $20-$30 or more I have to go to rpp.

Around here, the LHS is a dying breed. They are stuck in 1993 run by old men who are talking park flyers and nitro trucks. No lipo batteries for sale. No events sponsored. No helis. Same inventory as 12 months ago when I went in. Not to mention, prices are 30% more than on-line shipped.

Must be a tough business brick and morter, stuck with inventory from only manufactures extending lines of credit while the rc landscape changes so quickly.
