I am not an avid phone user, so maybe some of you already know this, so I thought I'd share something that I learned recently. With the new software, none of the apps you use will close by just hitting main button. To actually "close" them, double click the main button and a small window will open at the bottom. Push and hold one of the icons, after a few seconds, a "-" sign will appear. Close them all.

It could just be the placebo effect, but mine seems to have better battery life.

Again, I am sure most of you cell phone junkies already know this, but I did not so I figured I'd share.

Knew it, and do it constantly. Any app I'm not using at that very moment gets closed. The newest software update was supposed to help battery life, but I'll be damned that it does.

Mine's jailbroken, so I have a sweet app that lets me kill any process in heartbeat...."thumbsup"

Don't be a flake, do the jailbreak.

I just heard about that battery thing too.

My phone is voided anyways (I clean pool and feel in) so I have been thinking of jailbreaking it. What kind of stuff would I lose doing so?

heard about it about a month ago and tried it, just a waist of time I havn't noticed any battery life change and felt like a goof closing all the apps everytime I used my phone. I don't bother anymore.

just got the 4s about a week ago and it was getting quite warm in my hand so i googled it and found out about the hidden bar at the bottom, now i am always closing the apps "running " in the little bar. still not sure how i feel about the batt life overall yet.

Anyone in here jailbreak a 4S? Jailbreaking my 3GS was cake, but I haven't looked into doing this 4S yet.

My colleague has 4S with 5.01, I jailbroke it for him last week. It was just released as untethered. I don't think the windows version of green poision is available yet, I had access to a mac to do it.

I would die without SBSettings....hours of my life have been saved with that easy app.

And bitesms...

Quit surfing so much Midget porn on your phone and you will get better battery life.:flipoff:

I've had the 4s for a little over a month now. I try to close all my apps, i think it does help. Especially on my 4th gen touch. Generally with or without doing so i can make it 2 days. I don't use it that often, maybe get 1-2 calls a day and some days no texts or calls just web surfing. Of course if i do lots of web surfing/texting/calls i'll have to charge it when i goto sleep to make it through the next day but i've never depleted the battery to the point of a recharge being needed with in 24hrs.

Adjusting the brightness also helps battery life quite a bit. Either way, the battery in this thing lasts a lot longer than my previous droid did.
