Took some time yesterday and installed some stuff I've had sitting around for a while...
Axial CVDs in the front axle, new Inputs on the diffs and outputs on the tranny (The newer style with the holes for the pins a la Wraith and new kits).

Also touched up the front part of the cage with some rust, put the canvas back on and lowered the rig a bit by returning to a droop setup. I'm sure I'll have a bajillion pics tomorrow. The fellas and I are heading out Sunday AM though for a nice fun, scale run so be prepared for many pics :D

No more body posts :) 2 of the 4 snubbers on the hood bolt through into a flat plate. The posts just mimic the 1:1 mount.

Fun out on the mountain today.

Pics do not do this rig justice. It looks even better in person. Now if the owner had waterproofed the receiver...:flipoff: It would have run a full day:mrgreen:

Could be worse and driven over his controller like one of the other dumba$$'s he ran with (one other person...me:oops:). 35 inch tire beats Spektrum radio any day. I actually have it working again. I had to extend the piece that comes out of the radio for the steering wheel to attach to. It looks very similar to a Traxxas driveshaft i thought. So I drilled it and the drieveshaft to fit a 4 mm setscrew. Just have to bolt on a new wheel from another old radio. I have to hotwire the power switch as well as the board from it cracked. I think I can just bypass the charge port and get it to work as that is the cracked area. If not I will just throw on a 2 position switch. Even the display and 3rd channel works now. I stopped at the local shop on the way home after doing it and the DX3S's are $250. more then I wanted to spend today without seeing if I could get life out of the smashed one

Tire 1...Spektrum 0

Still some life left? Piece near the display is the extended broken output for the steering wheel. 4mm setscrew inside and ca'd at the meeting joint. It is very very strong. Just have to make a steering wheel fit it (easy).

Yeah, not as water-tight as I'd assumed heh-heh. Pulled everything apart and gave the rx a shot of water-displacing, formula 40 and Bob's yer uncle...right as rain.

Here you can see the new body mount setup and the 1:1 defenders mount for the spare...

Looks good. I like the diamond plate on the fenders

That's the 1:1:ror: I did find some small diamond plate that I was planning on using in the same spot though :)

ROFL guess it goes to show the difficulty in knowing which is a full size and which is a scaler these days. I often times have to stare at the pictures for a bit and look for something out of the ordinary to tell. With some of the very scale axles available now (one of the easiest ways to tell 1:1 from 1:10) it is getting even harder. sometimes you have to look at the leaves, etc in the foreground/background to tell. I have never gotten to that point with any of my rigs yet. But maybe my Defender will get there at some point? With all this stuff Toz is doing, I have some catching up to do.

Compared to most of the 1:1s out there this us a bit big...but certainly not bigger than Grant and I built in the past. My crisis of conscience with this one is the abuse...I built it to look older and its on a very capable and reliable chassis. Its hard not to beat on it even though I'd like to hang onto this body a while

Id still like to to a camel trophy 110 pickup ...so that would satiate my need for something cool as well as a bit more mild profile.

New Reign grill and a snorkel I welded up...not sure if that's staying, but we shall see :)
