Who has sailed the seas of cheese?

Les is why I started playing bass guitar! "thumbsup"

Jealous, I never had a chance to see them live. Though, I don't care for huge shows either.

Geddy Lee is why I started. Then I heard Primus and the rest is history. First song I learned to play was Tom Sawyer then it was Jerry Was A Racecar Driver.

I still can't nail down most of the stuff Les does, Geddy's style is much easier, at least for me. I actually didn't become a real RUSH fan until about 5 years ago, knew their music and could play a few of their songs, but never really got into them. I think it took getting a bit older. Primus on the other hand was the right band with the right sound when I was in HS, and living on the coast in Cali. Before Primus, it was all metal all the time.

I'm no Les or Geddy by any stretch of the imagination. Primus' stuff is extremely difficult to cover. Even knowing the notes, it still may not sound right.

I couldn't agree more. I'm a guitar player and it's hard as hell to get a 3 piece to sound like primus. It's always missing something.

Slurped it up the right side, blew it out the left side, how he ever kept it up there, I'll never know.

I know, not Nutbutter, but that's what's playing right now.

Yeeeeee Hawwwww

Now the drums for the beginning of... Used to come around here, to peddle his wares...

Fat warbly bass. I can hear his fingers on the frets sliding around.

Time to swing by Bob's and Krinkle's.

Oh how convenient, it's the next CD in the stack. Oh and look at that, Naughahyde is after it.

Anyone else able to hear Les plug in right after 12 seconds into Nature Boy?

Ya know, I've heard that in the past & always thought it was a glitch on my cd. I never thought it was a bass being plugged in. Learn something new every day around here"thumbsup"

~8 seconds in Herb loses timing a hair, then at 10 seconds you can hear Les touch his unamped strings, and then plug in right after 12.

In the same song, can you hear what I'm guessing is an omitted, "But you don't see me", and "No one can see me" backround vocal after Les says it? A repeat of each line. Very faint and buried in the mix. Almost only says, "But you don't..., no one can..." Right after he says each sentence, in the backround I hear it every time.

I've picked every Primus song apart listening for details. There's a ton of them. Part of the charm for me.

First time I saw them I was like 'who the fark are these guys' .................

20 years later I still listen to them. "thumbsup"

Enjoy!

hmmmm now Im feeling some Mr.Krinkle .... time for some Pork Soda :ror:

x2,

Dam that makes me feel old to say "20+ years"

Ran into the guy at the local tackle shop. Shot the shit for about 10 mins about rods and reels and he took off. Had no idea who he was. Old guy at the counter told me he was the guy who sang the big beaver song. Took a minute to register then figured it out..... Cool ass dude.

Let's bring back some good things in life!

Did they ever play old Primus tunes with Brain? Not like this right?

Just got the very brand new reissue of Sailing the Seas of Cheese on vinyl.

Been a while. Sounds extra great, so if you're a fan get the CD/DVD/MP3/vinyl for sure.

I keep listening and get like
