Mars Rover touchdown August 8, 2012

Re: Mars Rover touchdown tonight

Space stuff has always been a geek fetish of mine. I can't wait to watch all the Discovery / Nat Geo shows about it.

Re: Mars Rover touchdown tonight

Finally, something worth turning on the tv for.

I can't help but think they wouldn't put all the time, effort, and expense to do this unless they thought there was a fair chance to find something...

Mars is of no real value for life, it may contain value in minerals, ect. But I feel mars is a training ground. All energy spent exploring mars this generation, will help hone our skills when our ability to efficiently/effectivly travel to greater distances is possible in futur generations.

They say if we were to send a shit load of nukes and vaporized mars ice caps and warm the warm the planet up, mars could be teraformed and livable within the next millenium

Or, its also said slamming comets into mars could jump start it....but i think were aways off from being able to control the projected path of a comet.
