I have been sitting on this for a couple of months now. Its just to damn hot to go shooting, and the local indoor range said no when I asked if I could shoot it there.

That's badass. What is it. And what caliber? I have several indoor ranges near me that are alot closer than the one I went to today but none of them allow 7.62I have been sitting on this for a couple of months now. Its just to damn hot to go shooting, and the local indoor range said no when I asked if I could shoot it there.
sure I can have more ammo but what's the point if you won't enjoy shooting it. I don't really care for .22's. They aren't as fun to me. Go big or go home as they say.
I'm not angry. Just aggravated. Ok maybe I am angry. But when I bought the rifle I wasnt angry.

x2...my parents house we shoot right off the back porch...theres a hill about 100 yards away for the smaller rifles and a mountain side about 1000 yards away for the bigger rifles....driveway extends past the porch for about 20 yards for hand guns and bows...end of the drive way there's a big draw that we have a trap thrower setup for the shot guns...plus a dedicated room in the house for rifle and shot gun ammo reloading.

Thats a sensible mindset when buying a gun:roll:, at 50-70$ a day wages i dont think i would have bought the weapon that i had to drive across the county to shoot. you say you can only really shoot it 20 times, so with range fees and gas, ON TOP of cost of ammo, you're looking at a couple bucks per round....makes sense.
just personal preference but when i know when friends and i would go shooting were sure as hell werent popping of 20-30 rds.

I think going with just the exact amount of cash wasn't the best idea, but the guy behind the counter handled it wrong. I would have asked who you spoke with on the phone, called that person out to talk to you and then let you shoot. Having a monopoly on a business is no reason for bad service.

A couple bucks per round??? I'm not shooting 50 cal dude. It's like $5 for a box of 20 surplus rounds. It's sensible to me to buy a gun that I will actually enjoy shooting. Rather than waste money on somethin I won't have any fun with. Like I said it depends how much I work. Normally I have some extra cash on me.

I kinda get the vibe you like arguing dude. You argued thru your whole "What gun should I buy" thread & even ended this one with "flame away."
You're missing 99% of the points being made. If you don't have an extra $20 AT LEAST for a day of shooting...shooting probably wasn't the smartest hobby to dive into. You don't even wanna KNOW what I spend a day to shoot. I could buy a few more guns with the cheddar spent on ammo.
Not ALL hobbies are expensive. You can collect rocks, watch birds, build models etc. Like Steve said...don't live beyond your means. Not havin those few measly bucks to get into the range means your living beyond your means by taking up shooting. Just my opinion tho. Do you kiddo.

No. I get what everyone is saying. Im not trying to argue with anyone. Some people just never have useful things to say. That being said I get what everyone is saying. Shooting is an expensive hobby. No doubt. But I think alot of people are missing the point. For one I usually do have extra cash. My check was just a little small this last week. So I had just enough to go shooting and I didn't have anything else to spend it on. The point is I would have had enough if I would have been givin the right information. I had an extra $5 I keep at my house that I could have brought if I would have known I needed it. I get carrying any extra $20 I guess I just didn't think about bringing my extra cash. I was excited to get going and I also forgot my tape for my targets. You know how it is. When ur excited to do something you always try to get out of the house faster and almost always end up forgetting something. Again though I was told $14 so in my mind I had enough to cover my day without a problem. No big deal really. It just was a waste of gas and that's really what made me the most angry. I'm going back Saturday with my mom and I get paid Friday so with any luck they will not suddenly decide to raise their normal weekend admission fees.
Ever look at the warning tag on a blow-dryer? They normally say not to use them in the shower, something you'd figure any idiot would not do, but someone has, so they have to put the warning on there. So yes, they do have to tell people that, because someone has done it before.
It does suck being strapped for cash, but you might want to plan for a little bit more cushion when planning your day.

It DOES suck ya had a lousy day & didn't even pop off a single round. It DOES suck that you were misinformed. It DOESN'T suck that they made you watch a safety video because 18 year olds aren't exactly known for their decision making prowess. "thumbsup"

Well it's not just for me. They make all first time visitors to their range watch it. I've just never been to any other range that made you watch one.
