Thats the problem, write in's can not get electoral votes, therefore can not win an election.

Thats why Johnson not being in my state and I believe 3 others means his chances are slim at best.

I think it is a scam that legitimate political parties are not on the ballot in all 50 states. I think you then have to ask who made it so, and what are they so afraid of.

Johnson's party is listed on all 50 states, just in 3-4 of them another candidate of the same party is listed. This is 3rd party internal politics where they claim to be superior to the Dems/Reps then allow stupid things like more than 1 candidate per party which screws up the national ability to gain electoral votes.

Also 50 state candidacy allows you in the major debates (see Ross Perot).

I applaud your act of voting, but i really have to question why you vote for someone you don't think can do the job. I would rather vote with the minority for someone i believe in than vote with the majority for the lesser of two evils. By the way that's what the two douche party wants you to believe. IE if you vote for an independent party you are throwing away your vote. That way they get to keep all the power.

Never said Romney couldn't do the job. I am 100% against Obama for another 4 years, there are things that Romney will bring that I agree with, and there are even more things that Johnson brings in which I am in favor of. In my opinion, Gary Johnson doesn't stand a chance, even with a vote from me. And in my particular case, my voting for Johnson essentially costs Romney a vote (thus helping Obama). I know I'll get the "you're part of the problem" reply here....but like I said before, show me 50,000,000 other people that even know who Gary Johnson is (let alone those that will vote for him), and I'll reconsider.

I'm not really sure how you expect me to do that. But that is only about 1/4 of the number of people who are expected to vote in this election.....

well....

Obama could be replaced with a turnip
and Romney could be replaced with a pickle

both dipshits imo
besides....they dont make the final call anyhow, the bilderbergs do.
so who cares who is president anymore, they only read script wrote out for them. lol

Voting for Johnson is a vote against both Obama and Romney. You are not helping or hurting either, at least not until the independent candidates become more of a threat to them. Which, if you would starting voting for the person you want instead of the person you least don't want, would start to happen.

Hell, I doubt that most people will even realize that there is a third candidate until it comes time to vote and they look at the ballot and say "wtf is Johnson?".

If everyone waited for someone else to make the first move then nothing would get done.

I dont expect you to prove that I was more or less just trying to make a point. And I'm using 50 million because Obama received 65 million votes in 08...McCain received 55 mil. Maybe I should be using an even higher figure...

I voted early today, and there were I believe 7-8 different parties to choose from. If people would vote for these "other" party candidates it opens the process to equal funding, and media/debate coverage. that is why the myth is floated every election season by the powers that be that a vote for X is a vote against Y. flawed logic at best. A vote for X is only a vote for X. this country desperately needs better political choices, and the DEM and REP are not cutting it, and until people step out of that mentality we will continue to be ruled by mediocrity.

I guess i would ask this. If you were hiring someone to take over a company you worked your ass off to build, and this person was going to control the financial stability of this company for your children and futur generations of your family. Would you hand the keys over to the "lesser of two evils" simply because HR told you they were your only choice. Or being a prudent intelligent person would you look at other candidates?

Too many things need to change before independents stand a chance, and it doesn't start w/ one of them being elected President.

Thank you, someone else gets it

I agree with this. However, if you vote Independent, then more power to you. I don't judge

How about we start with allowing all candidates into the "presidential debates"? If they were shown on TV or even mentioned once in the news media, don't you think that the average, mildly educated voter would know who they were? Ever wonder why they aren't? How about we make our presidential campaign system fair and not "he who has the most money wins"? Ever wonder why it isn't?

What does it take for people to realize that Jackass or Elephant aren't the only options?

How about unification of their own party. Again look at Johnson be left on in certain states and then the same party putting another member in. This is why the big parties deal with their National Conventions to vote 1 candidate for all states, not more than one and dilute the vote and give up possible electoral votes.

That is a very legitimate point. If they are to be taken seriously on the big stage they need to come together as a unified party. I was not aware that the libertarian party had other candidates in other states for president.

You hit the nail on the head. Its a popularity contest, like alot of elections and what not are, and it boils down to who has bought enough air time, of found a way to get into the lime light to keep their name in your mouth. Im not exactly pleased with Obamas track record, but in the same sense, I go on my gut feeling. My gut tells me that Romney adn Ryan both are snakes in the grass. I dont trust either of them at all. So I guess my vote will be for Ron paul.
