So there I was bidding on a brand new Hitec 7980TH from The Toyz eBay store....too good to be true only about 19 minutes left and the bids were only around $53 + $5 shipping.

I have one on my 11 pound KOH tuber, and I love that beast on 2s pushing out 611 oz/in of monster torque!!

Last second I got sniped and the winning bid was freaking $67!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MAN AM I ANGRY!:evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil:

if most people are like me when bidding on an item, i'll be at my PC when i know the auction will be ending to snap bid at 15 seconds left with hopes i get it....but i will not set my highest bid that will bring me over what i know i can buy that item new "thumbsup" ....my thought is if want it bad enough, i'll be ready at end of auction to try to snipe it out from under other bidders, but won't bid on it till that last 15 second time frame :lmao: ........bob

....

I love my bid sniper app!! A lot of people don't max bid so it's usually better to snipe and avoid a bid war.

I do the same thing. Learned that fast when I first started using ebay. Don't like being outbid.

i snipe everything that isnt a bin. it keeps bidding wars and shills at a minimum.

the things i really REALLY want ill set a crazy snipe on, and that can bite you in the ass if you end up in a sniping war with somebody else doing the same.

I bid what I wanna pay for an item, and if someone outbids me then so be it. All the ebay bidding shenanigans are childish.

You're an exception to the rule. I assume most people bid in increments, not their max. Willpower is a big factor as well. "Wow, I was outbid. I can afford a few more dollars". And so it goes.

what app?
i use auctionsniper.com and they take a small fee.. but hey i get to sleep "thumbsup"

i snipe with an app... love it.. best part is i dont have to be at the pc..
years ago i would open 2 windows.. 1 with my max bid waiting for confirm.. 2nd I would refresh (before they had that auto refresh count down timer) and i would wait till seconds.. place my bid and hope i got it.. 3am manual sniping sucks...

now i set it and forget it.. let others battle.. my max was added to what i would pay and if it gets above it before hand i get an email and dont bother...

It doesn't make any sense to bid other than in the last couple of seconds. When you bid other than in the last few seconds, all you're doing is needlessly driving the price up.

I usually just set a max bid and call it at that...... But if I happen to be on when an item is ending and a bidding war gets going I "Dave Hester" it and drive the price way up so they guy trying to snipe it usually pays more than a buy it now price. Haha makes me feel better about losing the Item for a cheap price

A lot of the big sellers use an service nicknamed "Snipe Jack", It bids higher without out bidding the snipper, you don't even know it is happening and it is not avilable to the general pubic.
