Ok here's my questions, I just read all the rules and how is anyone suppost to remember all of them. I'll get DQ'ed in the first 10 feet :mrgreen:. If your DQ'ed can you still drive on the course or do you have to return to the main camp and sit out.
I've never been to one of these and I don't really know what to expect or how my rig should be set up. I notice theres a lot of tall rigs?
This is more less a race right?... and will we be going into the night.
Can I run 2 rigs or will I only have time for 1
Thanks for any help.
The Doc, great questions and I hope the following helps;
There are only 4 rules in a RECON G6 Challenge. Here they are,
RECON G6 Challenge™ Rules and Guidelines:
Rule #1 – NO HAND OF GOD. (HOG) A RECON G6 Challenge™ is all about driving. In keeping with the essence of the r/c scale scene a driver may not assist, stop, catch, or kick his/her vehicle. There are no penalties for winching or using your tow strap or for reverses, so DRIVE SMART! The penalty is a DQ for hogging your scale vehicle. Performing on course repairs or having to touch your vehicle for recovery purposes is not hogging. Picking your vehicle up out of water, mud, sand, or rolling it over onto its wheels with your hand is all examples of hogging your vehicle, thus resulting in a disqualification.
Rule #2 – A driver can not drive through a trail marker and reverse back through it to avoid trail obstacles. This will result in a DQ. A stage is directional and a driver must maintain the intended direction of travel. Reversing through the trail marker in the intended direction is ok and may be required during mandatory reverse skill sections.
Rule #3 – Mandatory skill sections are just that, MANDATORY! They will be located throughout a stage and will have an entrance and exit. There may or may not be a trail marker at a mandatory skill section. This does not mean you can bypass the section. Each class will have a mandatory skill section(s) and it will be marked with a class specific color boundary. A driver must drive their mandatory skill section, only.
Rule #4 – HAVE FUN! The RECON G6 Challenge is just that; a CHALLENGE. Each class has different parameters that must be met, but you are only cheating yourself out of one of the best experiences you will have with your r/c scaler by not driving with integrity and the willingness to perform each challenge in the spirit of scale r/c.
The RECON G6 is the premiere scale adventure events on the planet, but to the drivers that call themselves "G6'ers" and travel thousands of miles to earn that title, it's more than an event; the RECON G6 is a lifestyle.
The RECON G6 is founded on the honor system. G6'ers fill out their log book as they progress the stage. A Driver marks the trail markers that they hit, boundaries, if there are any, that they hit, and penalty winches if they had to use their tow strap in a scale fashion. Those drivers that look for "grey" areas find out that there is no advantage to "cheating" don't come back.
Keeping the integrity and the soul of what scale r/c is, is why we don't Hand of God. Drivers that have to, incidental or not, do the G6 walk of shame. We have all had to do and it's a rite of passage in becoming a true G6'er. The drivers then continue driving and having fun.
The RECON G6 is "ALL" scale rig friendly. Stages have been driven by 6x6's, CC01's, and full leaf sprung G-Ride or scaler. The G6 truly tests your driving ability and your scalers capability.
Time is a factor, but the RECON G6 is not a race. It's a scale adventure and that is something that has to be experinced.
Come out and have fun. G6'ers from ages 7 to 88 all get their scaler fix in a RECON G6!
The rules seem hard at first but once you start the rules are very easy. The main rule is there is no hand of god. You can touch your car to change batteries, fix it, get something off your car like a tow strap. It is not a race we want you to help others walking pace. The average run time for a g6 adventurist class 2.5 hours. You can run two cars if there is time.
Yes sir. A G6'er can run two G-Rides if time permits. There is a "Stage Cut Off Time. This time is set to give G6'ers plenty of time to finish, but just like the Ironman stops the clock at midnight, the RECON G6 Stage Clock must stop and those G6'ers out on stage, write down the trail marker they are at and receive an "unofficial finish" status.
An Advevnturist or Ultra Driver cannot run two 1.9 G-Rides. They can put 2.2 tires on the same scaler and drive in the Wraith/2.2 Class. "thumbsup"
You never have to sit out.
Correct. We want everyone to finish. If you break down on stage and cannot make the repairs there, bring your G-Ride back to your pits or G-Central and make the repairs. Return to the location that you broke and continue driving.
If the break down is not repairable, let G-Central know and remember that the G6 walk of shame is a rite of passage.
So if you flip your rig over and upright it by your hands and not Gods Do you get kicked off the trail or what?
Please Define "Hand Of God"
Yes & No. Yes, this is an example of a "Hand of God". Drive your scaler / G-Ride as if you were in it. There is no penalty for winching, helping out fellow G6'ers, or receiving help from fellow G6'ers. Drive smart. If you do flop over you can do the following,
Use your winch to get back on all four tires.
Have a fellow G6'er pull you over with a winch/tow strap or push you over with their scaler / G-Ride.
Use your mandatory tow strap in a scale fashion and mark a "penalty winch" in your driver log book.
Will this still be run or post poned for excessive SNOW?
And what would be considered Excessive Snow?
There are contingencies in place to ensure that only life threatening concerns will ever post pone a RECON G6.
nice video's Jerry."thumbsup"
will drivers be allowed to use their shoes or pocket as an anchor point for winching?
Yes. You cannot "pull" your truck with your foot or that is a penalty winch and then you mark that down in your drivers log book, but as long the winch is doing all the work, an un-natural winch points are ok.
NOTE: Ultra Drivers must use natural winch points only and can only receive help from other Ultra Drivers. An Ultra Driver can assist all other G6'ers. "thumbsup"
And remember;
Finishing a RECON G6, is like Winning a RECON G6!
