Axial Exo Terra Buggy

Extra thick oil in the center diff and i shimmed the spider gears to make the rear a posi. I epoxied my center diff and its awesome "thumbsup

stock up on bulkheads and hinge bolts for a arms they don't hold up too well especially if you put a 4.5 turn motor in it

Be careful with the motor mount. I just had to order a new one (GCM) but mine didn't break the way they usually do. Mine developed a hole in the part that mounts to the motor so the set screw wouldn't hold it snug. Not sure I managed to pull that off, but I did.

just drill a new hole towards the outside of the car. I have gone thru 3 of them its the weak spot of the mount and will not take the torque as the motor plate is real thin where they drilled the hole from the factory. It limits how much torque that you can put there and still keep the high power motor meshed up. Since I did that mod no more motor movement. And before anyone says it yes I used loctite and it would still move after a few packs

Were can i get one of those? PLMK

I ordered mine from them at www.gcmracing.ca
The Vanquish motor mount is a thing of beauty also. The only other thing I've broken was a front knuckle, but that was totally due to me taking a bad landing over a huge jump. I've bent the hinge bolts a little but they still work fine. I was bashing on a hill that was 7' or so high and hitting WFO on 3S. So most of my carnage is self induced  They are a hoot to drive though.

I made one of my hinge bolts form a L but it did impact Roy's house at half throttle and four feet off the ground and yes all my carnage has been self inflicted for sure

Got the GCM mount and got it installed today.

A little comparison for those interested. Sorry for the crappy pics.

You can see the difference in the amount of material in the thinnest part on the Axial mount. That's where they typically break.

..and the reason I was replacing it, a nice hole where the set screw is supposed to tighten down.

One thing to keep in mind is this motor mount lowers the motor just a bit. But it is enough that I had to find the thinnest zip ties I had around to put the motor fan on. If you are running a motor that has a slightly fatter can, you may have to clearance underneath it. Mine is just over 30mm.

It looks like a clone of the axial. The mesh adjustment is nice on those since you can do it without removing stuff. I had to mount the center diff in the mount and adjust the mesh with it out of the car then put the motor and mount in, in one piece.
I just came inside from testing mine and I forgot what it was like to have something that is fast. Can't wait to get out and bash it!
