Pham's VP Axial SCX-10 JK Jeep Wrangler Unlmited Rubicon - Unlimited Budget Project

Man I've got so much to learn. I would love to see a schematic of this wiring layout...ok noob question incoming -feel free to ignore. I should probably take these simple questions to the electronics area.

The Tekin RS (esc) is controlling the ROC412 motor. What are the other two escs being used for? the Tekin FXR and B1R.

ps. Thanks for the part spec on the hot racing hexs! ordered a set the other day.

Very clean love the receiver box with the leads coming out of it

Thanks!

Awesome work. Clean clean clean.

Thanks too bad it's gonna be dirty after it's first use which won't be a while :)

Your wiring job is Pham-tastic!

haha Thanks!!!

Feel free to ask whatever you want, the wiring isn't that bad just takes some patience to figure out.

The Tekin RS is powering motor, the Tekin FXR will power Winch, and last the Tekin B1R will power my custom lights.

Greatly appreciated Pham. I've been wanting to get into RC and do a build for +27 years.... Well I just got my Jeep Kit today and I've got a massive box full of parts I've been collecting since Christmas. It's a bit daunting looking at all the pieces, but I'II be fun :) I look at your build and am inspired to push myself to that level.

Not a problem at all, good luck on your build. To me working on RC's has always been half of the fun.

So you have done the tranny mirror/flip using the Vp transmission housing and Vp spur gear cover ?
Any issues or straight forward ?
No clearence issues ?

I didn't mirror the transmission, only flipped it by turning the skid plate 180 degrees. The VP gear cover only installs one way and that is the same way the stock Axial is done. With my experience with scalers I found that the motor on the passenger side (right side) facing forward is the best way to mount everything. This is smilar to how Wraith is setup.

This video shows the reason I learned that this setup works best. One of my old old scx-10 jumping in the air with no torque twist from a stand still, (really old video). :)

Holy hoppin honcho batman! That was bananas! :lmao:

Funny comment lol

Great video!
Are you going to be running any sort of tyre or wheel venting?

Good question, no I won't be venting my tires or wheels, as a personal preference I like my tires seal so no water can get into the foams.

that jeep looks great i might have to use a few of your ideas if you dont mind

Thank You, I don't mind at all, that's why I posted this build thread, let me know if you have any questions.

Update hopefully soon been working on this rig quite a bit lately.

That vid's hawt! Lol I mirrored my tranny and get very little torque twist. Why is torque twist less the way yours is setup and why do you run the HD OD gears? BTW, I have regular HD gears.

If I remember correctly from back when I spent a lot of time figuring out the best setup: 1) Torque twist tends to lifts the front passenger side wheel so... 2) The motor is typically the heaviest item depending what kind of battery you're using. So having the motor on the passenger side rather than the Driver side (stock setup is driver side), would use motor weight to fight against Torque Twist. 3) Last with the transmission facing forward (stock is the transmission face to the rear) the rotation of the motor fight against the torque twist rather than with. I could be wrong about this but I spent hours messing with mirroring and flipping on my fastest rig and found that my current setup is the best to jump the rig flat and corkscrew in mid air due to torque twist.

As for the OD HD I want speed gears without having to use such a big pinion gear but a small pinion gear so the motor doesn't hit the rear upper link mount screw/nut.

The mailman seems unimpressed.

Your wiring is fawking awesome. Can I send my rigs to you for a rewiring job? I'll pay!

Haha the mailman would see all of my rc (1/5 scale to 1/24 scale) outside so often that it's just normal to him and all of my neighbors.

I would love to work on people rigs to do wiring jobs. PM me when you're ready and we could work something out. I have done several people rigs and have never had one people not happy with my wiring work.

I enjoyed doing it to my real cars so rc is a lot easier for me. Here's an example of one of my work on one of my project back in the day 1991 Nissan 240sx SE with a S13 SR20DET motor swap, wire tuck and extension, and several other mods :)

Before and after pics.

This is why I'm dropping any new rc's I get to Pham's RC Garage!

From my phone using my fingers.

FVRR is a customer :)

Small update, for right now! I stop by my friendly neighbor Vanquish Products to pick up some new goodies but I'm only sharing with ya one item for now.

I picked up a 1/4 Add-On knuckle weight ring, with the 600 Hubs that is pretty much it, there is no room for any additional add-on ring.

I really like this setup because not only does it add weight to the front axle BUT if you have crawled anywhere near water you know fishing line like to wrap around your hubs/axles so these weights are an excellent way to keep crap off of your hubs/axles.
