Camless....

lots of interesting perks. pretty forward thinking.
i really like the valve staying at max lift the entire time while open instead of just at the peak of a cam lobe. thats got to be great for performance applications. (he mentions 30% more power)
tons of other things it changes. just a whole new world of possiblities

That's in the realm of F1 engine technology. 30% more power with 30% less fuel sounds reasonable. Especially if your looking at technology where you could really change valve ramps for varying performance situations.

Have seen this before and I still enjoy watching it.
I still say, figure a way to produce hydrogen cheaply and reliably, and the car industry will never be the same.

Think the Saab has a huge air tank in it?

The most interesting bit is at the end about the air pump possibilities. That's futuristic stuff, beyond what he's got going on now.

yeah thats what me and pops were thinking too. sounds like the saab must have a tank somewhere.
and a flaw in the future engine air pump. what about long highway trips where you dont hit the brakes for 2-3 hours?
small temporary obstical though in the big scheme of that project though.

it must be nice to be 40 and own Koenigsegg:shock:

I thought the exact same thing about the long trips. But an air pump with a relief valve driven off the timing belt would fill a tank constantly, or provide air pressure.

He should have made it work on vacuum as engines already do that.

I don't think there is an airtank in the testcar in this vid.

His (air pump) ideas aren't completely new or revolutionary.
But he is the new guy in the conservative world of super/hypercars and he is trying new things. I like his cars and mentality.

His idea is basically the high-tech version of this idea:

With the camless technology you can use each cilinder as you please.

Example: On the highway two cilinders are running on fuel and produce power. The other 2 cilinders compress air which can be used in the city to reduce noise and emission in stop and go traffic.

Braking on the engine while descending and all cilinders can be used to compress air. Etc. etc.
