NIRC. Chit Chat

Had a good time today. Got a little testing in and no brakeage just a few minor things. Good to be out with the guys and kick it around. Chris you should have come out, and I asked Johnny about that red bag and asked if it was his ball sack or hernia or something. He need's to tuck that sack in.
 
I think my steering servo took a dump today.. so, I was on RPP ordering a new 7950 trying to get the next discount break so, I ordered a few more pinion gears then I was like.. wait, what if I break my axles shafts so, I added those to the cart.. what if my motor gets fried so, I got a spare ROC 412.. $300+ later..

I already have a a bunch of spare parts but, what am I missing?! I'm terrified that i'll break in august and not be able to play anymore so, I'm trying to cover all the bases.
 
Yeah, I'll have to bring spares.

I'm also thinking about putting my JK on the chopping block..

Any of you guys running the GCM transfer case have issues with the set screws backing off? I'm talking about the set screws for the two main internal gears. I never noticed it on my Chevy because it doesn't get run much but the JK comes loose after a long day of running. They don't back off enough to quit working, just enough to be sloppy. I guess I'm going to have to get some red threadlock.

Now that I look at it, the Chevy has some slop in it too.

Eh, whatever. This is not an interesting story at all! Okay I'm done now.
 
I used red loctite the first time. the blue is what screwed you.

people seem to not want to use red but, red is needed in some instances.. blue is used more often but, red should be in your tool kit as well. no biggie. "thumbsup"

im bummed about that servo. i thought it seemed to work when it was hooked to the wraith, but ive had servos go out that exact way it was acting when it was in your truck. :/

you can use it for a winch servo if you wanted... id at least pull it apart and clean the potentiometer thing out and clean it with elec cleaner before thinking its fried. could be the dielectric grease i used on that is messing with something.

but yeah. bummed that servo borked on ya. if u want i can maybe see if i can fix it or at least convert it to a servo winch for you.
 
my transfer case has loosened up too. i havent checked or noticed it in awhile but the last time i had it open i used red and really torqued the screws down.

So, should I attempt to drill through my chassis to mount my sliders with Adams help (and clamps!)
or
Pay Attitude Performance 100/hr to drill through my chassis and mount the sliders.

I'm just worried we'll get them on crocked or something... which if we did, I guess they could always be welded on straight.
 
You & Adam should be able to do it... If you feel like it.

I'd say there is a 95% chance the shop will do it right. Looking at probably $250 installed, I would guess.

diy dude. if you want i could loan ya my welder and you could tack them on where you want them and then drill the holes.

i would like to find a killer all in one shop... the place i go to now is the best place ive found so far and half the stuff i ask to have done they turn me down or refer me to freaking car-x or some shit shop.

they turned me down for about 4k of work on my firebird for a stainless exhaust and built trans, turned me down for cleaning up and painting my tubework on my 4runner, turned me down on new tsls for my zuk... but then said no problem with the kevlars on the 4rnnr...

-edit... and most every time i pick up a vehicle from the shop i find something ****ed up. scratches, wires not put where they should be, blah blah.

What the? Sounds like they are useless.

Yeah, I would tack them in place then drill & bolt, then lay down a few nice beads after.
 
That might be a better idea now that I think about it.. The slider might be in the way of the drill so, you can clamp it in place, mark the holes then remove & drill.

You could bolt them in place and drive it up to me sometime before you put them to use and I'll stick em' on there.

you need to do a GOOD job painting them, or else you will end up with the mess i have on my rig.

i hate the way my bumpers look. i had steve in mind for cleaning them up and bedlining them, but now he's moving and i think i mighta missed my opportunity.

at this point im considering just taking it to a shop like attitude and see if they can cut them off, blast them, and get them bedlined the right way before welding them back on.
